Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I have been doing some thinking lately. I'm in China for awhile now... and life has been good so far.
I've a Chinese girlfriend and we are living together, looking for a decent new job (no teaching)... and I don't really have much to worry about. But eventually I'm going to marry her and have kids, and I have been thinking that China is definitely not a place where I would like to raise my kid(
.
So after talking with her, we decided the best thing to do is to go back to my country and bring her with me. Raise the kid( there and after a few years, if we do manage to get some money together, we might reconsider coming back to China and open a business (probably a restaurant).
In 10 years, I hope to come back and open my own business with my future wife. Get a good place in a 3rd or 4th tier city (who likes big cities anyway?) and live comfortably until we get old and die of lung cancer (dramatic end... pollution, oh you.)
A life 10 times better than what it is now! Always strive for better. Life is not bad now it's just 10 years from now I hope to make it 10 times better!
Retired or working very part time. Living about 50% in both China & Australia, avoiding the Chinese winter and using China as a base to further explore Asia. Of course all this depends on our health. I ma hoping it can be the best of both worlds and keep us active and healthy. My big hope is that China decides to attack environmental issues with the same commitment and money that they dragged their infrastructure up to todays levels. Sure it will never be pristine but as long as it reverses direction and slowly improves that would be great.
take social security early at 62 , build a beach house in philippines and work here as long as they let me and spend holidays in batangas , maybe beach in malaysia depending on muslim influence
Retire freedom 55 in 8 1/2 years, I have a house in Canada to return to. If the girlfriend and I marry we will live in China the winter months ( Shanghai ) and in Canada the rest of the year.
With my luck? Dead in a ditch/quake.

It's a great city. One of the few I wasn't constantly bitching about. In fact, I've never complained about Xiamen...
If everything goes to plan I'll be back in the UK, in a nice area, in a good house with my daughter in the local top quality school. 
I'll also probably be unemployed, and looking for work (at age 60? Yeah right.)
In 10 years I will be teaching somewhere or possibly working in business again. Who knows? I'll never retire.

I have already retired ... retired from 37 years of a government job in Canada......in 10 years I hope to have seen a lot more of China than I already have .... big country!!! ... I have seen pretty much all of North America and Europe...... South America and Africa, I am giving up on........... my son (in Canada) I expect to fill me in on these places ......My daughter (in China step daughter) I expect to marry a rich prick and look after me in my old age ...maybe Rafael Nadal or maybe John Doe ..we'll see and all will be good, like it is now and it will be in 10 years.
I hope to be an expert in finance,working in a large international corporation as a finance manager(i don't mind to be the CFO if possible,hehe),good at English,Portuguese,Spanish and Japanese.Probably i would have a house in Shandong province(my parents want me to buy a house there,in the same city which my sister lives in now,so they can visit my sister as much as they can).I will live with my love and we can travel to a new place each year.In addition,i hope China's air condition is much better,and i am positive in this point as the public care more and more about it now and it is one of the highlights on the new government's agenda.
Hmm, let me see. I'm Chinese, but I don't think I will stay here forever. I'm working for a good company as a planner, so in the next 2-3 years I will stay with the company to get my money together. Then I will pack up everything and go out there to see the world. Travel around and meet people in different places, learn different cultures, explore this amazing planet as much as I can. My family probably will be freaked out with my idea after 2-3 years, yet they know they can't stop me. Of course if I meet someone along the way who shares the same values about life, I would think about getting married. As for kids, let's just see how things work out. I'll be 36 after 10 years, so there're more adventures to be done before that!
