You need to have your foriegn drivers licence and then pass a knowledge test. I have a copy of the test questions and can email them to you if you PM me with your email. The questions are quite easy. If yoiu search through this site there are a few threads with more information on this.
hope this helps:
1. u need a valid drivers licence.
2. u need to go to the visa office near beiling park to localise it. you need one 2 in" chinese standard photo and you will need to fill out a form with a chinese name. with the copy of your passport, visa and the resident registration from the police office.
3. the final place is the vehicle administration in "ba ke shu"(sorry dont know the chinese chracters but as soon as you tell teh taxi driver you need to go to the driving licence place and mention the name they should be able to understand). you will need to translate your passport and driverlicence on the opposite side of the gate of the place.(started at 200 yuan but cost me 150 yuan each but it might depend on your haggling ability)
4. the exam costs 40, physical costs 20 and the photo costs 10. they will give you a date and time for exam. you can take an interpreter with you but you can choose to take the exam in english. all i need for my interpreter was to tell me what the buttons on the keyboard meant. you will have to score 90 out of 100 questions to pass. the 100 questions are selected from a bank of 1318 something questions for car driving licence. you can find the question bank at www.shekou.info/road_test_questions_Eng_only.zip

Downvoted, seriously? By who? Some Chinese thinking that foreigners are responsible for all the road accidents in China?
Thanks for the Info, I will try to go there tomorrow... 100 question oulala !!!
Please note that the test questions were updated at the start of this year so the ones on the links above from 2 years ago could now be wrong.
Thanks, no time to go today... Thanks for the info, i also find a website to test http://www.chinese-driving-test.com/
Another question relating the transfer of Driving licence:
Do i really need to go first to the Immigration close to Beiling Park?
Because some people in my office say no need, just go directly to Bake Shu place, and as it seems to be very far, can someone clarify this?
Thanks.
