I suggest you join Guangdong university of Foreign Studies. It is a foreign language institute. There you can attend various activities with Chinese students, and teach each other. I believe the best way to learn is to exercise in life.

Sun Yat-Sen University has an excellent program, for degree or non-degree learning.  I am a new student there, and I know many graduating students and everyone loves the campus, the teaching, and of course the atmosphere.  Most of the teachers are fro mthe north and speak standard Mandarin.

South China University of Technology has a beautiful campus, and great programs to choose from, but it is relatively new, so I don't know anyone who has completed the Chinese program.

Jinan University is another option, but the campus for international language is separate from the rest of the school in another part of the city, so if you want the college life atmosphere, you may not like this option.

Guangdong University is another option, but I've heard a lot of negativity, many people transfer out of that school to Sun Yat-sen because the feel the teaching is poor, and campus is not good.  Again, that is hearsay from others, not my experience.

Yeah, actually, I agree that you need a famous school to learn Chinese. However, I also want to tell you that I think you don't need to seek for a famous university. Firstly,  a famous college mean that you should pay a lot for your studying. Secondly, maybe you don't care about the money, you should care about the environment. As a college student, I know the environment deeply . There will be a lot students in the same classroom learn together with you.So the teacher doesn't have enough ability to teach you, for there are so many people that he or she may feel boring and inpatient. It is not designed for one to one. So most of the teacher think they don't need to do so well. Therefore, they will always make you study by yourself . What they teach just a little about Chinese even little.Thirdly, you know, when Chinese want to learn foreign language they just learn it from some foreign teacher, because they think it enough for them to study. They don't care about the school. Take me as example, if I want to learn English, the most improtant for me is to find a good teacher not a famous college. I think a foreign people is quite enough to learn . You know, Manderin and English are both language course, it will be more effect to learn from a native people. Only in this way can you learn a lot  by communciating more often. Whatever, whenever, wherever and however , this one can give you a lot help. They can teach you from the modern life and teach you daily oral Manderin.

So I just want to give you some advice on how to learn a lot about Manderin. Of course , maybe you can apply for a professor to learn Manderin, but you need to pay a lot for him. However, if you can learn from a college student you don't need to pay more about it. You know, in fact, a professor will be very busy all the time, even though you may pay a lot  for your studying, he may do not have enough energy to teach you. On the contrary , if you learn from a college student, I will tell you it a good way. A college student is willing to teach you , he must try his best to teach you. Because it is also a good train for himself, he must treasure it. Also, he must be very kind to you, because you are a foreign friend , so he also enjoy teaching you and he also want to learn something from you. So, after making a comparison, why not choose a college student to learn Chinese????

I want to introduce myself to you. I am a college student and my majors are aircraft maintence engineering and business English. I like making friends with people especially a foreign one. I am fond of English. I have ever been a translator , assistant of my foreign teacher. Now, I hope I can find a good experience to teach foreigners Manderin. I am a native manderin speaker and I have a original idea how to teach foreigners Manderin. I dare to say if you can learn from me you will improved a lot later. At that moment , you don't need any translators when you go outside for anything. I      know a lot essential phrase which will be used in daily life. So if you like me, and give me a chance , I do try my best to do well. ps,you don't need to pay a lot for your studying to me. A little is ok. Contact with me if you are interested in my words, call me at 13242838410, or add my wechat ID:13242838410 or ID: marlon, or email to me at 13242838410@163.com.Thanks a lot.
