Go for or go to?

Don't go anywhere in China.....too crowded!

You've also left it late to get decent priced flights....plus any of the close by south East Asian countries will be over-run by mainlanders.

If I had time and money I'd go back to Ubud, Bali. Great food, lovely people and great to get out in the beautiful countryside on a motorbike.

Yeah the above guys are right. Best to just enjoy some peace and quiet, maybe get some stuff done around the house. Take a trip to IKEA you've been putting off, something like that.

Use your vacation days when nobody else is, unless you want to deal with swarms.

Don't bet on it! During Spring Festival, lots of Chinese head down there - and hire cars... and drive with 'Chinese characteristics'... sometimes, fatally :(

We're going to Turpan.  We were intending to go to Ili but changed our minds due to the weather.

Turpan will be between 12 and 23.  Ili will be minus a few up to around 10.

The Uyghir style place we're booked into is low level, situated in a vineyard on the edge of town and has an outdoor roof top lounge area that we plan to drink wine and read on.

It has the greatest reviews of any place I've ever seen in China (Tripadvisor) so, fingers crossed for that one.

Turpan has a long and interesting history and they make better wine there than they do anywhere else in China.
