Q: Where to start searching for work in Hong Kong and Shanghai

I have recently worked as a Business Analyst on various projects with a South Australian company name RAA. Additionally, I recently completed my MBA at the University of South Australia, which was crucial to strengthen my knowledge and skills related to management and business analysis.
Where do I begin my job search for a person like myself who only speaks English?
Cheers……

Of course it's harder if you don't speak the language, however there are ways out there for you you to get in touch with companies.

My advice to you would be to get informed about which specific companies are in Shanghai and in Hong Kong - as in, which ones you specifically wish to work for.

Most Chinese job searching websites are completely in Chinese, and of course might not have the top companies you might be interested in. So my suggestion is to target as best you can, go on their individual websites and ask them for interview.

Otherwise, another popular option is to go to your country's Chamber of Commerce - many have counseling options, lists of all your country's firms in the country, organized meetings for job searchers, etc...

Hope it helped

You can search on local webs like 51job and Chinahr. A lot of informations is just write in English, I do not think you will find it hard.

If in Hongkong, it will be even easier for a English speaker.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
