Q: Where will you go?

eChinacities was offline to me (and it looks like to everyone else) for most of the last two days.  I kept getting "Error 502 Bad Gateway" messages.  Is The Cat going to tell us why?  Probably not.  During this down time I wondered where eCc members would go to get their kicks if eCc got blowed up, and there was no Answers section any more.  Where would The Blogger go to riff and rant?  What would Copy & Paste Boy do?  And what about all the angry MFs, where would they go to vent their sexist, racist, misogynist, xenophobic, and other fears?

So the question is:  If the eCc Answers section disappears forever, what Internet site/s will you go to instead?

I’ve found myself using Reddit a lot more. It has a dedicated China sub and in that different subs for visa/travel/individual cities, etc. it’s a lot more livelier than here

Most other China based forums, especially city specific,  are slowly dying.

I second reddit, although I'm more of a lurker there and don't engage with the community like I do here. I've even been able to identify a few of our ecc members on there even though they use different names.

Seems Reddit is the only half-viable alternative to this Answers section.  Sigh.

Good luck getting your kicks at Dave's ESL.  This is what Dave has to say about postings there:

General Discussion
A general discussion on teaching around the globe. Non-teaching/job-related postings will be deleted

China (Job-related Posts Only)
Posts that are not job-related will be removed

It's worth noting of the dozens of countries listed at Dave's forum only China has a special note about not posting content not related to jobs.  Does that suggest the banished refugees from Dave's ended up here at eCc?

What is Victoria gonna do if she can't post her blogs here at The Cat's friendly Answers emporium?  Come on Vik, tell us your backup plan so your devoted blog readers can follow you in the future.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
