Q: Where would you say a better place to live?

I am thinking of moving to a native English speaking country for improving my English.
I'm running my own business so basically I can just live anywhere as long as I'm with a laptop.I'm making choice between US and UK. I already have picked up some American accent which will be easier for me to continue improving if I go live there. But my concern about living in the US is the gun shot. UK can be my second choice, I didn't hear any gun shot in the UK, but I saw some British post gun hunting picture on wechat, I wonder gun is also legal in the UK? The good thing of living in the UK is I can take train to many other countries in the Europe and there are a lot of exhibitions in Europe and I can visit easily.
Also please suggest some good city to live for the convienient public transportation and renting cost. I can live in NYC and I can go around by metro and bus, I have 10 years US visa, but renting fee Probally very high there, some other rural district in NYC may be cheaper but I heard the security is a big concern there.

So far my favoriate pace to live in Europe is Amsterdam cause most people speak English which makes my life much easier and Amsterdam is safe and clean.I do not need a car to go around in Amsterdam either, they have metro, tram and bus. But I need to improve my English, I can't go live in Amsterdam:(

The big question is where are you able to get a visa to?

Viki87:

Lol I can get visa for both country and in fact I already have visa. Why do you think that I'm asking the question if I can't get visa? It is very easy for me to get visa to go any country, all they want you to prove is you have stable job/have business of your own and you won't go take job from their country. In my post, I already mentioned that I already have 10 years visa

I do not intent to go get a job or be an illegal immigrant there, which is the fact. I go by tourist or business visa, I will just live there for 3-6 monthes like in 2019 maybe, I have to go to other countries for business trips, go back to visit my family in China and doing sourcing in China.

You will be illegal if you are working on a tourist or business visa. The business visa is fine if you are sponsored. Not if you are self employed.

I said I work for myself, could you read my post carefully? I am self-employed and I can work anywhere which isn't illegal.

Best (funnest) country I ever spent time in was Cuba.  Kinda odd place 20 years ago,,,, dunno how it is now though.  Would surprise the heck out of me if they offer reliable 'net access though.

You won’t be able to rent anywhere to live in the UK on a tourist or business visa. You’d need to stay in hostels, hotels or Airbnb.

Plenty of people would rent me one room:)

You need to check the rules in UK. You need to pay a deposit, sometimes pass a credit reference check and most importantly prove you have “right to rent”...you don’t have this right on a tourist visa. I’m British & just moved back so know most of what I’m talking about here.

I know rules are rules but still someone is up for earning extra renting fees, they do not care if you are on a tourist visa or not, as long as you pay the rent. I have already had short renting offer in Germany

You cant stop cheating Vicky, can you? Honest to God, you are playing into the stereotype. Please stop. Its just cheat cheat cheat. No matter how simple the task, no matter how easy it is to do a thing legally. you just have to cheat. You cheat the cardboard buyer, you cheat customers. You cheat bosses. You cheat governments. You cheat suppliers, and you seek out cheeting landlords. Same as you seek cheating suppliers then complain when they cheat you. You cheat the barman, the waitress, the street cleaner, and the visa officer. You probably threaten poor hotel reviews to get a discount. Do it legaly Vic. You might be amazed to find the legal way is actually fucking easier. Stop cheating.
