Q: Where's the eChinacities App?

The city guides of eChinacities.com are a treasure of pure gold, so how do I get them on my iPhone? I could not find an eChinacities App in the App Store.

I searched for it, yet all I got was "22,200 results (0.34 seconds)" which mean no result at all. Am I blind?

Hello!

I remember a discussion on this board that there is no app available for echinacities.

I can recommend two apps for the iPhone:

Hoodhot Taxi Guides:
http://hoodhottravel.com/products/taxi-guides
One app for every major city. The guys who wrote them are surely pretty young: I remember the first version of the Shanghai app had some hundrede bars listed, yet only four (4!) museums wink  It is still growing, and has for sure the most comprehensive list of restaurants and bars.
Updates via iTunes, about every quarter of a year.

China Bridge Mobile:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/chinabridgemobile/id533707018

This app covers whole China, with an emphasis on business travelers: all hotels are 4* or 5*, conference centers, trade fair grounds etc. pp. They also list pretty remote places, you can find long-distance bus stations of places in China you have never heard of.
There are two great advantages of this app: The updates are done directly, not via iTunes, similar to an antivirus software. And there are about 10 updated addresses per week! Second, and theat's pretty cool, you can add your own private addresses WITHOUT KNOWING CHINESE! You can look-up an address via www.email2address.com on your desktop PC and then enter the eight letters in your iPhone. Like magic, this address is added to your personal directory!

Both apps work entirely offline.

Drop me a private message if you need more.

This is the answer I was afraid of!

Why these guys cannot cooperate? Mustn't be too difficult to find someone to import the city guides into his existing app...

Just got the ChinaBridge app (the cheaper one) and playing around for 10 minutes. Indeed it covers all the cities eChinacities does. Thank you for this hint!
