Q: Which bank in Beijing allows you to withdraw money from a PLUS atm card?

Oh well, I am holding this EasiCard from OCBC Bank that does not even have a Cirrus sign, only the PLUS sign. Any idea where can I get my money out from the stupid card?

In China, UNION PAY is the one used.  Normally, Union Pay does have reciprocal agreements with others like Cirrus, Plus, Master, Visa, etc, so your card should work .

Start visiting ATM's from different banks to see if your card works on one. Your real problem may come in when asked for the PIN number, in China is six digits, abroad is only 4. So, input your PIN as 00XXXX. The X are your PIN numbers. Some banks, like Bank of China, the ATM will accept a 4 digit PIN number

Last thing, be aware that many local ATM's, after three failures at providing the correct PIN number, will not return your card, so only try twice per machine visited, and after second try remove card from machine

China Merchant's Bank will issue Visa/MC debit card to foreigner with 1000 Rmb deposit. USB stick for online purchases, and unlimited 'spot' exchange rate without any fees applied. 'Out of the city' (anywhere in China, except in HK) ATM cash withdrawals from 1000 Rmb - 3000 Rmb per day without fee applied.

A very good and helpful comment! Thanks. And, I know your suggestion of adding two zeroes in front of the 4-digit PIN number really works. I have used it for many years.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
