Q: Which Chinese city has the best nightlife? (in your opinion)

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find the link. Beijing is pretty good for it's variety of bars though I'm wondering what your thoughts are? I've heard Shanghai and Shenzhen aren't bad but I haven't been to them so can't say.

Linfen, by any chance?

Out of the cities I've been to, I would say Shanghai, Yangshuo, Qingdao and of course HK!

Rin:

Yangshuo is not technically a city, but eh.

Depends on your definition of "nightlife".

If you can class Hong Kong as a city (which you can't really) then the night life is surely better than anywhere else in China (especially around Wanchai). Other than that, Sanlitun and Wudaokou in Beijing are normally quite hot. Obviously Shanghai and Shenzhen. Not too sure about Guangzhou.

Beijing isn't too bad although if you don't have a car it's going to be extremely difficult getting home late at night. I think Hong Kong is spot on! It was fun staying out late at night at Hong Kong. They have nice weather.....(Drunk

He he, I said: "nice"!

San Juan, Puerto Rico.  No contest anywhere in the world.  Hmmm... maybe Rio de Janeiro...

Oops!  Did you say China?  Shit.  I thought you meant porcelain.

Beijing's night life has become utter shit. The bars are overcrowded, and the people are so freaking arrogant, it's unbearable. It's ok to be arrogant sometimes, but only when you have a reason to be. And those people don't.

It used to be nice, especially around the Gulou area. But not anymore. It sucks. Especially Sanlitun since the Village opened. F*ck sanlitun.

Hangzhou was pretty fun at night, and Xi'An was ok.

Chengdu is pretty decent for nightlife and is reputed to have more bars than Shanghai or Beijing, not to mention all the tea houses and KTV's. The reputation of Sichuan girl's being among the most beautiful in China is recognized even among women across China. The mindset is less about money and just relaxing with friends and having a good time is enough.

Answer of the DayMORE >>
A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
