Hong Kong is more expensive but the pay is a lot better there as well. Apartments are smaller than in Beijing, and food is far more expensive as well.

Yeah the most expensive parts of beijing are equal to like nice parts of kowloon or inconvenient places on the island.
No where in the mainland even comes close to the expensive parts on HK island. Talking 8K rmb/mth for a 15 m2 studio in an old building. Nice 2 bedroom 30K/mth+. Even the most expensive places in the mainland not even close to that.
I have been to both and by the looks of it... HK is far more expensive. I guess it depends on what kind of lifestyle you want but overall... HK people work a lot harder just to live a pretty standard life.
Education is much better in HK and isn't laughed at like a mainland degree. But who knows, that may change will all the changes the CCP is trying to push on to HK.
BJ still do that 2rmb metro? it almost made it worthwhile putting up with all the beggars crawling on their hands and knees through the train
HK educates kids to western standards, BJ indoctrinates them them. Both are bloody expensive.
