Hmm.. well, you may be meeting people who are Uyghur ethnicity. This is like in Xi'an and they are 'Turkish' background. (of course mixing over centuries as well) and then you could be meeting people who are I think are called 'Miao' but basically they are a little Russian-Chinese admixtured.

My wife is probably Han-Manchu sort of ethnic background from Jilin (North) and I notice many people there have more 'long faces' and I suppose you can call that 'European' sort of features.

There is also a kind of mystery in a region (saw this on TV) as some villagers in some remote areas display blonde hair, green eyes. 'Caucasian' features. Yet, they have no admixture...  or do they? It's believed that some 2000 years ago a legion of Roman soldiers were lost there and isolated in a relatively small Chinese village, took wives etc.

Miao is the Chinese term for the hill tribes - most notably the Hmong - and they don't look at all European, so I don't think that's the term you're looking for.

I have heard the term 'Chinese Tartars', but that's a really small population.

Hmm maybe Chinese Tatars - they do look a little more European.

Some of the Uyghur (originally from the Xinjiang area) people look pretty much indistinguishable from western Europeans. Not all of them, though. The Kazakhs are a similarly mixed-appearance group; I guess so many peoples have washed back and forth across Central Asia over the centuries that there's all sorts of fun stuff going on in their genes. It makes, I must say, for some very attractive people.

Iranians. I've met several with blonde hair and blue eyes. You asked about Asian people.

Now as for Chinese people, then Kazach or Uigher from Xinjiang. They're all Indo-European and so could pass as European if they wanted to.
