Q: which foreign news sites have the best China coverage?

BBC is my go to for everywhere else, but I find their coverage of China is bit simplistic and not that comprehensive.

which sites do you go to for your China news?

Expats are forbidden from the real news too...caught in the great net of control....no criticism. or intelligent analysis ..sad.

SCMP has more and more pro-Beijing sponsored garbage, to a schizophrenic extent.

Comments... well depends on the mood of wumaos, but it's getting less and less interesting.

I think SCMP still has the most informed China coverage, though its days are numbered now. The comments section also has the most extreme infestation of paid commentators (pro-Beijing) you will ever find.

Thinking about Hong Kong makes me quite depressed, so I will try to avoid doing that.

I read, and if I don't like it, I just look for some other news portals. I'm not looking for the China coverage, but just for the 'news'.

I'm surprised that many of listed websites I can't access anymore. I'm still using School's wi-fi, because I had to submit '77' ID documents (two weeks ago), before I'll get Internet to my flat. School's wi-fi might be the reason for so many 'no load' messages.

I like yahoo. It has stories from reuters the AP, pretty much all the mahor news sites and they almost always open for me no matter the material. The HK protests were a good example. I could read about it daily there.

Also it sort of remembers what you like so over time if your always reading China articles they will put them at the forfront for you automatically. My Yahoo homepage is just magically all the 3C's: China, Canada and cars.

Stiggs:

I second yahoo. If you are logged in and you read a news story that interests you, there is an option to show more articles relating to... whatever you just read. Same if you don't like the story. My yahoo home page has all the latest China news from a lot of different sources.

Xinhua and China Daily tell you all you need to know....Go back to sleep Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Alternatively watch CCTV news...

1st 10 mins - Xibaozi did this...

2nd 10 mins - Everything in China is great...Cue heartwarming story about orphans

Final 10 mins - Everthing everywhere else is rubbish and dangerous, you are much better off here.

All you need to know!
