Q: Which green tea for weight loss?

Back home, I used to buy boxes of Lipton green tea bags, but considering that this is China, I thought I'd buy the local ones in leaf form, but there seems to be a wide range of green tea types here, so that confuses me. What kind of green tea is usually used for weight loss?

Does drinking green tea aid weight loss? I thought exercise and a balanced diet would do this (& cutting down on beer & junk food!)

I think the "weight loss" tea my MIL tried to get me to drink was a red tea.

I heard, if you drink red tea constantly, your hair will turn red. However, it must be brewed in warm water for the full effect.angel

I thought ( but don't know for sure) that stuff was basically just a laxative. If you don't retain your food you'll lose weight.

Energy eaten - Energy burnt = how fat you are.

Tea doesn't do jack to your metabolism. It does however contain lots of antioxidants that would be beneficial i lowering risk of cancer and other health concerns. However, since you reside in China, you probably don't care.

A nice cup of Jasmine tea or Long jin green tea with your breakfast and lunch should be good. Green tea has caffeine that can raise  your metabolism a bit and control your blood sugar.  I personally prefer white tea because it only has half the caffeine of green tea.

Try not to drink the tea too late at night or drink too many cups; you do want to sleep, I reckon.

The chain store Ten Fu's Tea has good quality tea. They are all over China.

It shouldn't really matter too much. Just try several of the famous green teas in China and pick one (or two) that suit your taste. The effects should be the same for all the greens. I drink four types of Chinese green tea because I can't settle on just one. As juanisaac mentioned, drink with your breakfast and/or lunch. Loose leaf is better than bags. I drink oolong as well, but I'm not sure how it affects weight loss. I drink tea primarily for the taste and its antioxidant effects.
