Q: which non-Chinese cuisine do you rate highest ?

We all have more or less heard about French cuisine, Indian curries, Mexican tortilas,, Italian pizzas but which one do you rate as higher to the others ?  and which you would hotly recommend in China

well, I am darn sure no gourmet; perhaps a bit of a gourmand at times, but the way I read your question is which style of food do I like the best.

for me- North Mexico, Tex-Mex, Cajun, Southern-style (USA), Turk/ME.

which would work in China? I doubt any.

one particular dish I wish the World could try?   Seafood Gumbo (Louisiana style).....   haha

Greek Cypriot Kebabs (a five course meal) are filling, tasty but not in anyway for the vegetarians.

However, the one food that in my opinion every human should try at least once before they die is Italian ice-cream and, of course try it in Italy; sexual food!

Italian!

Edit: Though I have yet to find a good Italian restaurant in China...

in Guangzhou, a real one, run and owned by Italians, Italian chef, really great.  In the same building as a really great Mexican restaurant.  Not Brooklyn nor American version of Italian but real Italian, so good.

Wow.  Aren't you in Beijing now?  Even Ningbo has a couple of great Italian restaurants with real Italian chefs.  Look harder, eat well enlightened

There's a really great one in Guangzhou, on the fourth floor of a building, owned by a Swedish lady and a Mexican-Chinese man.  They also own the Mexican restaurant two flights up.  Really good food, Northern Italian style.

Italian, Greek, Ukrainian, Indian altho curry gets tiring- love samosas, North American roast beef, turkey, barbecued steak and burgers and baking, I love pie, I had beans, weiners and home fries the other day, it was great. Chinese used to be my favourite food for going out, now it doesn't seem Chinese,  I won't say I had my best meals in China, pass the chicken feet and the bowl of chicken assholes please.

Eating is an enjoyment, I think that we all have a bit of an epicurian inside of us, and it is true that we do not have enough of these good untainted cuisines, I personally like spicy food like Indian curries, but depending on the mood, Italian is also one of my favorites, been to Turkey and specially liked their bread, I like also sashimis but with really fresh sea fish, Chinese cuisine is great too, especially the Imperial selections.......real pleasure.

I'll start with a warning; this is not an anti-American post,

However,

I don't like European food in general that has been Americanised, be it pizza, or other European dishes. Take pizza as an example, eat it in Italy and it is always thin crust, the 'art' of a pizza is the dough not the topping. American pizza is usually very doughy and too fattening for my personal taste, I find the same problem with pasta dishes. In general the food I have tried in America while very tasty (I'm thinking of BBQ ribs) is also a little too heart attack territory for me, although no doubt there has to be millions of healthier options I never found.

I am not saying it is bad food, just that it is not to my taste.  As I said earlier Greek and Italian food are some of my favourites, with a nod in the direction of Balkan cuisine, (although I've never sampled it in the Balkans only in Germany).

Russian (cold fish, cavier, mushrooms, vegetable soup)

French (salads, cheese, wine,  cogniak)

Turkish (marinated meat barbecue)

My advice to Chinese cooks: the less pepper - the more soft taste. And avoid fat by all means.
