Q: Which one I should buy?

There are three ones that I can afford to buy. Marcbook Air costes around 6200rmb,Surface Pro costes around 5700rmb,Ipad costes 3500rmb. But I make 7000rmb monthy. Therefore, I feel all are expensive to me :( My laptop is broken. I need a new one mainly for doing my own online export business(Email, online business chatting, photo editting, simple website editting and shop management). I will need it to buy tickets and do a bit online shopping accasionally. I need a light one which can enable me to carry with easily. Or any other recommendation for cheap light laptops with inexpensive prices? Thank you.

Don't buy a Mac unless you only care about appearance... oh wait you are Chinese.

Willing to pay more for outdated hardware? Go ahead.

So then what's your recommendation?

Asus, MSI and Acer are manufacturers that make very good looking, cheap, relatively powerful, light and reliable netbooks, check them out.

Another question where you'll only listen to the answer if it agrees with your pre-formed prejudices. You'd already asked me & ScotsAlan this question on wechat. We both advised you to get a windows laptop. Why? Mainly because most Chinese software (banks, etc) won't work on Macs. There are some nice small laptops out here running windows 8.1 that will do everything you want & more compared to a Mac.

If you're intent on buying a Mac then get an 11" MacBook air & get the hard drive partitioned to install windows on it when you get annoyed with the Mac operating system.

Strawberry66:

I like surface pro,it's light and runned by Windows system. But it is expensive. I am not sure about the quality of the other brands. I have checked with a few brands which sells light laptops, but the light ones are not that much cheaper than surface pro. The main concern about buying sueface Pro is the cost. Well,I checked Marcbook Air,the apple system is fine for me,guess the only pity is Chinese online banking is not workable on it. How do you think of buying an Ipad costes 3500rmb?

@strawberry  -  there are many models of iPad.  From the price u mention it sounds like u might be referring to the iPad Air2 16gb (3588¥ Apple Store).  I just want to say that I think it is a big mistake to buy the 16gb model.  Every professional IT says the same thing.

Why are you even considering an Apple when you say you want to run a business on it. I fail to see how anyone who is running a business on one computer would contemplate buying one that does not give them access to their bank account. It would seem that you have fallen into the old Chinese trap of wanting something that looks "cool" rather than what it can really do.

Are u certain u don't need to run Windows?  Macs are great, but sometimes one has to have Windows to do certain things, like online banking, opening/composing certain file types.  Yes, there are ways around all of these issues, but it is best to know if you will often need Windows or not.

The new MS Surface is getting pretty darn good reviews. It is expensive.

I love my 11" MacBook Air!  But some complain about it not having a disc-drive.  I have owned a MacBook Pro in the past and love my Air much more.  :)  It is darn near as easy to carry around as an iPad and it's Flash memory makes it a fast, reliable machine.  Damn good looking too !

I also totally love my iPad2 and always have.  That being said, the uses of a Tablet and a Notebook computer are pretty different and as such they don't really justify being compared with each other.   It is true that Macs are expensive, but as someone who has bought a few things over many years, I can tell u the old adage 'you get what you pay for' holds true 90%+ of the time.

Strawberry66:

diverdude, how about I just get an ipad two to do email, shop management and simple site editting. I can do on line shopping and banking in my company laptop accasionally. Will ipad two good enough for me? I like surface pro,but the cheapest one costes 5688rmb.Too expensive for me.

I love how my boss have everything iThings, small macbook and so on, but do online shopping on staff notebook which is running Win system... as hotwater wrote. Apple is good when you care about face only, or you do serious graphical works . they are powerful in this, and I do not see the reason to waste it for online chat ...

If you buy a Macbook you are wasting your money, there are plenty of better specified laptops at lower prices. The only reason Apple prices are so high is because there are enough fools who are willing to pay the money to look cool. If you are going to be running any kind of business you really need to go for a windows based machine. Microsoft are supposed to be giving a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it is released this year if you already have a machine running windows 7 or 8. Worth considering?
