Apparently British diplomats are being allowed to attend this trial but your average Chinese citizen doesn't get a look in.

She's admitted to the charges, does that mean she pleads guilty. That was swift, strong smell of fish here.
I wonder what the sentence will be?

I f you admit charges,of course it means guilty, why have a long trail when the answer is a straight forward yes
According to foreign news, the trial was over in 7 hours, was held behind closed doors, no public allowed, and she did not contest the charges. Sentencing will be announced later on, long jail term expected. Her defense lawyer was selected by someone higher up, her private lawyer was not allowed in. Of course, he had very little knowledge of criminal cases
She's a lawyer, why couldn't she defend herself?
GuilinRaf:
It would depend on the kind of law she works in. For example, I am well versed in criminal law and tort law. I would hesitate to take a divorce law case and I would not touch a tax or estate law, as I havent worked those areas before.
I think I read that she wanted to hire a particular defense attorney but that the Court denied said representation, and assinged her one instead.
By what I can see, only British diplomatic representatives are being allowed.

If you gets less than she deserves then I think our Government will be quite upset. I'm more concerned about the flunky.
I saw it on BBC and the place was packed. One strange thing, it looked like it was being held in a hotel not a court. ??
