Q: Who broke the internet?
Is it just me or is ECC opening slow and Vee Pee eNs just not working?

Today the interweb does seem overall sluggish. ECC is by far the worst.
My internet has sucked today in Zhejiang, but my VPN has been working... Probably gearing up for the national day holiday that is coming up.

Mine worked okish this morning, but it's completely dead now.
Very likely an update of the Great Firewall ongoing, Google and Youtube might even be accessible without a VPN for a few hours this evening. I advise everyone to update their VPN/proxy to the latest available version right now.

Okay, here, ECC is fine, Chinese websites are mostly fine. Since a month, Bing became much slower than usual. For document search (it's like 50% of my job, looking for information), I have to use a VPN else I would waste hours just waiting. My VPN does well, with some random interruption. Doing scientific work in China is ...not as simple as it could...

Same here. I rely on it mainly for searching. But I can't get mine to work at all.

I go for days sometimes without being able to bring up bing at all. GOOG, forget about even trying without my VPN. I refuse to use baidu search, I used it once to try and find a picture of a grandmother for one of my PPTs, and it came up with like 75% porn.

@xunliang I use a not-famous VPN service, not Assdrill for example. The service I use is doing a great job of being ignored ^^
@glydwell Yes, I used Baidu out of frustration a few times, and it wasn't very effective... but I found pictures and code samples pillaged from my lecture materials, without any proper citation ^^
So, if you are using Assdrill, that might be just China being China
