It starts tomorrow folks!
Poms favoured but the Gabba is a venue that visitors don't have the best record on.
I just heard Michael Vaughan laughing about the notion Mitchell Johnson will have an impact. I pray the laugh is on him!
Does anyone know if we can listen via the BBC? I know the ABC doesn't have international broadcast rights and that's a real bummer.
Aussies win the toss, send the Pommys in and then knock the bastards right over. Twenty eight, twenty nine, squirty.........
G'day mate. Try www.cricket-365.net
I also watched it live on another stream but seemed to have lost the website - or lost my memory actually.
You can also live stream radio, that is Brisbane ABC. Just google search it. I listen to ABC Perth 720 so I assume you can stream other states.
We could do with an Ashes win. Love test cricket.
He bowls to the left,
He bowls to the ri-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght,
That Mitchell Johnson,
His bowling is ****e!!! (often erratic!) Not a bad lower order batsman though.
On a more serious note, if you have a VPN that has a British location, you can listen to commentary but Auntie doesn't have highlights. You can usually watch on cricket 365 or at least get pointed in the right direction.
"God save your gracious queen...
No I am not excited about the ashes. But it still pisses me off when the Aussies call us pommys. Personally I have worked with many Australians and had a good relationship with them. Why the disrespect. After all the majority of Australians are of British decent. Most of the people I have met in New Zealand call England home ?
brisguy:
mate it's called banter. not sure if you have heard the abuse coming from the barmy army on tours and you think the word "pom" is bad. They call us convicts but it's banter
Franck3:
who calls you convicts? That is a bit old hat mate. seven of my family emigrated to Australia in the 1700s.Some may have emigrated under duress. I go to the Rocks in Sydney and go to a pub called Fortunes of War and they charged me a much higher price than the locals. I do not think you would find that in the UK. Pomms is old hat try something a little more original. I like Australians but it is sad that some still bear a grudge?
royceH:
Calling people from England 'Poms' isn't old hat, or derogatory.
It's just what they're called. Like 'Yanks', etc...
Don't fret matey. There's no underlying subterfuge.
Most Pommys are good blokes and sheilas. Same for Yanks...most of em are terrific.
Cheers!
I know I am Australian however the best use of a cricket bat is when it is employed to dispatching Cane Toads . As for the Kiwi's ,we call them Pacific Pom's
Who are the Ashes?
Franck3:
It is what are the ashes. Look it up under Cricket Australia V England. Hope it is a good match.
Aussies all the way it's the Gabba. To all the poms here Broad is a sook and should go home.
The aussies have no hope mate. They lack any real quality. Stoked it's in Australia now so the time difference is better for us than when it was in England! Don't see Stuart Broad making it home alive though...
Thank the lucky stars for Mitch Johnson and Brad Haddin.
But gees....that Aust top order continually puts us behind the eight ball.
Still....put another 50 odd on tomorrow and then the Poms'll have to get em.
The game's goin gangbusters!
'Ol Blighty's on the ropes and the Balmy Army'll be in the pub before stumps on Sunday.
Everyone's a winner!
Just remembered this thread.
Mitch Johnson, now, that's guy's just plain sh!t...can't bowl, can't...oh, wait...
HAR!!!! Yeah, that's what he said alright!
And what's he saying now I wonder!
The whole thing is going like clockwork and it doesn't seem there's a single thing the Pommies can do about it.
I reckon they fluked the Ashes win in England earlier this year.
It'll be a real backs to the wall affair by the time the Poms get to Sydney in the New Year.
If I were you, Miss A, I'd go.
MissA:
Not like clockwork today, they might just hang on for a draw. I ought to be present at the Sydney test, the SCG is just down the road from my house...
MissA:
Stokes out literally as I typed that. My flatmate screamed so loud and startled me so much that I dropped a cup of coffee on my foot, leading to more yelling, which in turn brought my (Scottish) BF out to see what the crazy locals were shouting about.
