Q: Who gets all the good food in China?

I've eaten or seen all sorts of things in China now. I'm tired of eating bones with some scrap on it, rubbery arteries or some other meat thingy. I've been all over looking for meat, tomatoe sauce, spices, cheese. How can a country this big have hugh supermarkets with 800 types of dumplings and not have canned veggies or cheese.I went to Walmart yesterday and ask about hamburger and they said I could get today. Today I go and it looks like ground pork because it is and now told they never have gound beef. The beef I see on display is such a small quanity (3 pieces !) and I can't judge the cut, I think I bought eye of round today. I broke down today and went to McDonalds , yuck what was that meat substance? Then later I have noodles and it had sliced arteries in it. I thought it looked like a bowl of tiny chicken assholes. The locals eat what i would toss, heads, they love feet. I think the country must be brain washed into thinking this is food. So I'm thinking who gets the good food, the rib eyes, t-bones, even the lesser cuts to make hamburger? I miss the home Chinese food  buffets that I love !!!!

"...looked like a bowl of tiny chicken assholes."

I about fell off the couch laughing when I read this. Thank you for making my day, Ted!

As to who gets all the good food, I don't have a clue. I don't eat "parts," but pretty much stick with basics. We do have some good dishes here in Changsha, and over the last few years I've learned what to and what not to order because of the quality of the ingrediants.

Btw, there is a great buffet here called "King's Buffet," that has a large selection of Japanese, Korean, and Italian food, as well as a grand selection of Chinese food. They also have an actuall dessert bar, and cold dark beer on tap!

Think of your finding out as an adventure, and please, try to stay outta Mickey D's.

TedDBayer:

Too bad funniest answer or post doesn't get points, much of my stuff gets scrubbed. What part of Guilin is Changsha in?
And Panda ,I hate ChefBoyRDee too. I'll spare you my thoughts on it. Barf-a-roni ?

I've actually had that literal bowl of tiny chicken assholes.  Kinda looked like spaghetti 0s without sauce and really damn chewy.

It's because "the best meat comes straight from the bone."  So finding real chucks of meat is a pain in the ass, true.  But when you do find them, they can actually be cheaper per pound than the rest.

I got a place that sells chicken breast at 80% the price of chicken wings.

The reason they got caught in the first place is because everyone is whacking off their feet and chowing down! Yikes!!

I heard about this market but didn't think much of it,,looks like a normal small store front, but it gets wide inside and goes for a couple of blocks, I found beef, chopped beef for burger, smoked meats, vegies, fruit, live chickens, weird fish,,but no cheese. The beef is fresh , not aged. What kind of country doesn't have cheese or sour cream. I think it's time to kick the cultural revolution into high gear. I wonder what Julia Childs could do here?
BTW I bought some sort of wrap yesterday,, looked like they were cooking on a garbage can,, not bad tho,, only 4Y.
