Q: Who has run a marathon, half marathon, or ultra in China? If so, where and when?

I have run a half marathon in Zhuhai and one at Disney in Hong Kong, but want to try other places.

I ran to catch a bus once but that was long ago, before I realized they come every 5 minutes.

I've run half M's in Bris and Townsville.  I ran a full one in Canberra.

The best place is the Gold Coast because the course is real flat.

You missed the one in Suzhou by 2 months... It's all flat, but the view is pretty. I think Wuxi  had one not a long time ago. Both are annual. Shanghai marathon is at the middle of the autumn, so it won't be very hot nor cold, just perfect. Air pollution might vary.

davo:

Probably the only time to do a run in Suzhou . Any earlier then it'll be -5 any later it'll be 35 degrees and 100% humidity.

DrMonkey:

Ha ha, I love running in the evening during the hot season in Suzhou ^^ 35c is doable, just go slower and drink enough during the day. The only downside are the damned *clouds* of mosquitoes when I'm along Dushu lake. There was a neat stadium track just next to my home, but the private university that owns it decided there won't be non-members anymore :(

In the middle of the winter, okay, there are two months where you better run around noon if you don't want to put the lycra pants. No way I wear those goofy stuffs.

I just took part in the Great Wall Half-Marathon last, last weekend. They have a full, half and fun run each year. Apparently it's one of the toughest races in the world - and I'd have to agree Tongue

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/facial-recognition-deployed-china-marathon-stop-cheats-050110393.html

Cheating on a marathon, why am I not surprised. Peasant mentality with development too fast.

Stiggs:

I thought for most people the point of doing a marathon was the personal challenge, push yourself to achieve something difficult, build character, prove something to yourself and all that self esteem building stuff.

So you gotta wonder what it says about the people who cheat on it.
