Q: who pays the bills in China/Europe/USA etc when you invite a girl whom you are interested in?

in China and in my country particularly, ladies expect you to pay all the bill when you invite her for a dinner or such, in Europe sometimes a guy can pay all the bill, sometimes people pay the bills individually according to what they consume, the same accrues to the USA, what are your views about this?

I am old fashioned enough to always offer to pay, but modern enough that if she offers to pay or go 50-50 I am relieved (but only if she has a job!)

Like with my buddies, sometimes I pay, sometimes they pay and sometimes we split the bill.

Well, the girl, i am willing to do a bit more of the paying, but points up if she has a job and at leas offers to pay and actually does so once in a while..

In Australia, the general rule is: you invite, you pay, unless among friends and then the bill is split.

On a date, for people of my generation, most guys are willing to pay but equally most women are pretty set on paying half, so a polite tussle/compromise can ensue.

Sydney's hyper expensive, so I don't think too many men are really upset when a woman insists on paying her own way!

If I invite a girl out? No hesitation. I pay the lot. Same back home in Australia.

You cannot generalize Europe on this topic. I would say in the south the chance of the man paying all the time is higher and in the north it can go either way. And I wonder who invented the term "go Dutch"

Men have always been seen as the provider. If you invite a woman out, then you pay. In China I always got the bill and I never minded as I have more money and dinners etc were not expensive.

If it is a date, I pay.  If I can't afford to pay, I won't ask the girl out.

For my friends, we each take turns paying.

I would offer to split the bill if I'm invited for meals as I don't really mind who's paying the bill. Going out is not about the bills, but about having good talks and enjoy the food.

I'm 50 years old so I'm a bit old-fashioned, when I was younger first dates were ALWAYS paid 100% by the man. However, in the UK now many women see this as sexist and / or as giving an 'excuse' to pressure them into having sex, so the younger generation in the UK now are much more likely to share the bill or get separate bills or if going to a bar take turns paying for a round.

I see this as a shame but I understand the reasons. I just like the traditional idea of the man footing the bill. Heck in the UK now things have changed that much that most of the bar fights are between young WOMEN not men and most of the arrests on a Friday and Saturday night are of drunk women too many seem to view equality as a race to be as stupid as the men.

Personally, I find it necessary to pay my share of the bill every time. If someone insists on paying, I pay the very next time.
