Q: Who runs the banks in China?

There has been a lot written in 'the west' about irresponsible bankers and outrageous lending (mainly by politicians it must be said) leading to the economic woes currently being felt.  I have even heard some Brits saying we should 'nationalise' all banks, (a position I totally disagree with), as they 'caused' the recessions.

Now, I have read on Xinhua that the Chinese are looking to relax the 'monopoly' the Chinese banks currently enjoy. Is this dangerous, (for China) and who actually owns the Chinese banks? Or do they 'own' the government, or indeed are they one and the same?

Oh and please, fight nicely!

the big four banks are all stated owned. While the big four are listed on various stock exchanges the government holds the majority stake in all of them.

The General Manager is the Bank of China but the Bank of China is owned by the government........so you do the math here......every bank in china is supervised by the Bank of China cause this bank is the official bank of china..........sounds like am running a loop here

brisguy:

The Bank of China (branch) is run separately to the People's Bank of China which controls all the banks in China including private and state owned banks.

A: What are you going to do, if I tell you answer is: 'forever' or 'never
A:What are you going to do, if I tell you answer is: 'forever' or 'never'? Chinese recruiters don't have the same habits as the western recruiters have ... Never stop sending your CV to the job offers, not even when you have an invitation or two for an interview! Don't expect Chinese will send you "Thank you for your application. You weren't selected at this time ...!" notice, so keep sending yer CV to the newly posted job openings. Looking for a job in China was like a part-time job in my time in China ... Good luck! -- icnif77
