Q: Who is staying in China forever? Met a girl, got married...whats the plan?

ESL in China can be a bottomless pit.

Who here is "here forever" as much as the PTB let us stay forever....

Maybe met a girl.....got married...but due to financial reasons can't return back to the west......what happens then?

You hit 60 and can't get a new RP and western pensions only pay out later (67 for the UK)

Is the answer just save like a maniac and then hope for the best?

Car - the only way seems to be : buy a used one only from someone you know or get a new Chinese car (if you are on a limited budget like me) surprise

Unless you were sent by a company that pays into an account in your homeland, every year here is a year that both you and your employer are not contributing to your pension or paying your  social security.  If you stay here for a long time it'll make things harder for you later.

I would if I could bring my pets, get proper Vet care for them and not worry that someone might harm them. My girl friend ''lost'' her Collie in China.

I also worry about health care. My one experience with a hospital was when I was looking for a medical supply. I have sleep severe apnea. The doctor said she knew about it and gave me directions to a hotel across the street. It took me awhile to figure it out why she sent me there,  she thought I needed to sleep.

If you are from the UK you can make national insurance payments from overseas to keep your pathetic state pension up to date....something like 40 RMB per week.

But that'll only give you maybe 4000 rmb a month come pension time, but thats a damn sight better than most ppl in China.

What are the long term stuck in China teachers doing for savings....for the last teaching day or is it head in the sand time?
