Q: Who teaches the Chinese Cooks western style cooking?

I can't understand why you get spaghetti when you buy a steak in a western style restaurant. In Australia we would get either vegetables, salad or maybe chips, but never spaghetti. Is this because they do an American style of serving?
I went to the US years ago, but can't remember if they served spaghetti with a steak, enlighten me please!
Forget about culture please, if you do, you would think that you would get rice with it! Puzzled

There are some that are actually trained by Western chefs, but for the places like you are talking about... it's the basic Chinese idea of copying something from a picture (though I haven't seen the steak and spaghetti combo picture).

Well first it's because spaghetti is seen to be foreign like steak. There is only a handful of foreign foods that the average person can name off the top of their heads (kinda limited on their cultural experiences).

Second, it's because spaghetti is easy. They already know how to make the noodles, and they don't take the time or effort to make any proper sauce.

Steak and spaghetti is getting popular in North America. I have seen shrimp and spaghetti so nothing is unusual for me

nevermind:

I'd say shrimp and spaghetti is an old standby. Steak and spaghetti I've never seen.

Is it an Australian restaurant?

The thing is Chinese food in other country is also not Chinese even cooked by Chinese cook... Maybe that restaurant got localized...

Alex66:

I haven't seen an Australian themed restaurant here. I have only been to a couple of steak houses and one of them served spaghetti with the steak, the other one in Hangzhou served vegetables. Yes you are right about the cooks can't replicate authentic Chinese dishes in Australia, I can't see why a Chinese cook or gets taught in Australia (say) can't replicate the same dish here as you have all the ingredients and fresh vegetables.

nevermind:

Depends where you are. Where I'm from half the population is chinese. So, the CHinese food is authentic. More interesting is the Chinese/Western fusion restaurants.

It doesn't have rice because the people here want to believe they're eating at a Western style restaurant. Of course, the food will still have to be something they recognize and will eat, like spaghetti. I think the bigger problem is the taste, it doesn't taste the same. Of course, I once went to a Pizza Hut and ordered fruit salad. I think they literally put salad dressing on the fruit. It tasted horrible.

They just don't know what goes with what. No big deal.

But yes, steak is best served with a baked potato and some roast veggies.

A:What is 'formal offer letter'? Only legally accepted employment offer I know is a Contract! ... so, you just don't accept and sign the contract with the lower salary! Email exchanges, verbal discussions and other promises between you and employer aren't legally binding, so legal action isn't recommended. Mainly legal effective thingy is employer's stamped and signed contract! ... and after you ink it, employer can/will use your signed contract to apply for all necessary documents at Chinese governmental agencies as Working permit and all ... It would be better for you to not accept employment with such an employer, IMO 'cause you'll experience similar troubles by employer not respecting the contract later on. -- icnif77
