Q: Who teaches the Chinese Cooks western style cooking?

I can't understand why you get spaghetti when you buy a steak in a western style restaurant. In Australia we would get either vegetables, salad or maybe chips, but never spaghetti. Is this because they do an American style of serving?
I went to the US years ago, but can't remember if they served spaghetti with a steak, enlighten me please!
Forget about culture please, if you do, you would think that you would get rice with it! Puzzled

There are some that are actually trained by Western chefs, but for the places like you are talking about... it's the basic Chinese idea of copying something from a picture (though I haven't seen the steak and spaghetti combo picture).

Well first it's because spaghetti is seen to be foreign like steak. There is only a handful of foreign foods that the average person can name off the top of their heads (kinda limited on their cultural experiences).

Second, it's because spaghetti is easy. They already know how to make the noodles, and they don't take the time or effort to make any proper sauce.

Steak and spaghetti is getting popular in North America. I have seen shrimp and spaghetti so nothing is unusual for me

It doesn't have rice because the people here want to believe they're eating at a Western style restaurant. Of course, the food will still have to be something they recognize and will eat, like spaghetti. I think the bigger problem is the taste, it doesn't taste the same. Of course, I once went to a Pizza Hut and ordered fruit salad. I think they literally put salad dressing on the fruit. It tasted horrible.

They just don't know what goes with what. No big deal.

But yes, steak is best served with a baked potato and some roast veggies.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
