England. Because my daily routine was not disturbed by over zealous security precautions.
The London games seemed to have much more of an authentic celebratory atmosphere. They'd get my vote.
Well as a Brit married to a Chinese lady, I was living in England 4 years ago for the Beijing games and we're now living in China for the London games, that wasn't planned at all though, at least not avoiding the games. As to who was the better host, as I wasn't in either country I really cannot comment on the better host as you would have to experience that to make a judgement.
The more enjoyable, well for me that would be London, I understood the nuances of the opening ceremony (and I'll watch the closing one today or tomorrow depending on time) and of course Britain were more successful at London. However, I'm biased and I know quite a few Londoners who are praying for the games (remember the Paralympic games are just starting) to come to an end so their lives can return to normal.
While we are talking about the London Olympics, (mini rant time)
What was with the French language coming first? Last time I checked London was in Britain and hence English is the domestic language, and French is a minority language (internationally) so why was it given first place?
As to the Olympics themselves NO they aren't French they originated in Greece, so that rules that one out!
So to help out the international audience? Well I would still say the host nation language should come first but even then surely the most widely spoken language outside English is Chinese. So why bloody French!? And why FIRST!?!?!
End of rant, time for lunch!
You guys seem to have gotten to the ego of a Chinese user, with all your "London" answers...
giadrosich:
Aye! Someone went on a "thumbs-down" rampage! Well, not quite a rampage, but they definitely didn't like the answers!
Beijing's closing ceremony didn't bore me to tears like London's.
China is richer than England so obviously Beijing's opening ceremony was more spectacular.
But despite all the Chinese criticism on unfair referee treatment I think it was just as fair as any other olympics. Why are China even complaining? They came second and hald a big gold haul!
