How has living in living in China changed your musical tastes?
I don't mean Chinese artists...I mean anyone.
Steel Panther (always had a soft spot for some 80's hair metal....this band's metal is legit, their lyrics are over the top comical though). I get some weird looks when I queue up their "Asian Hooker" while rollin' in my BYD.
Thee Oh Sees became a big one for me as I left. Black Angels too.
Breaking Benjamin is one of the artists I became fond of when I was living in China.
I heard Chinese music every where and if I heard a song I liked, when I asked the song name or who did it, of course I never got an answer. I like some songs that sounded more traditional. I tried downloading music, but my translator didn't usually work, no luck getting anyone to help me. I did find some, I like the 12 Girls Band

I'm glad it's not just me. Ask about a song and you get zip, nada, nunca, ling useful information.

I didn't listen to much of my own music. I wanted something different to associate with China. After sitting in a bar one night and heard The Pet Shop Boys, I D/L all their music and that was my China music.
TedDBayer:
The song I heard in the bar, Metamorphosis? It fit. They'll have to do East End Girls.
TedDBayer:
The very first song I played in China, while rafting down the Li river..wanted a counter.. The Ramones- I Want to be Sedated.
It's hard to choose a favorite but I'll go with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. My musical tastes have not changed one bit here in China. Why would they? I do appreciate the guzheng and arhu based Chinese songs, but my taste is the same.
Oh yea, and Motley Crue. hahahahaha
I've always liked what they call "world beat" music, which is basically a country's traditional music. I like Celtic and Eastern European, Russian, Asian, Hebrew and African, etc. But, I also listen to classical, country, rock, pop, and gospel!
However, since being in China, I really like the music of SaDingDing.
Her mix of classic and contemporary elements appeals to my eclectic taste, and I've been able to find all of her music on QQ.
Faye wong,Alan Tam,and i like Sa Dingding's music as well.
nevermind:
Are you a fan of any of the underground stuff, Chenhan? I was a big Carsick cars and Queen Sea Big Shark fan, but never got to see them play.
