Q: Why are the Americans so good at The Olympics?
With many thanks to Createach's thread of a few days ago.
I mean what the hell is it with them getting gold medals all the time..........I am just curious and I really can't find a reason for their excellent performances in The Olympics

He with the most money and the most tech, wins. Or, "spend all you want, we will make more."
Americans are good at almost everything............the fact is better than UK.....and obviously better than China................good job USA........As long as china don't get the first place and then i have to listen to some shit said by my Chinese friend.............and to me my country is the host and we are polite so we left the first and second places to two of our guests....................God bless
Hugh is doing a good job.but really he is not me.......and the question seems a copy here...but heck...........we are in china and copy is almost legal...so do what romans do or chinese in this case
Hugh.G.Rection:
Createach, yes of course it is a copy, that is why I posted "with thanks to Createach" at the top of my post.
I hoped the reason was obvious as to why I copied your post and no it was not in any way meant to be derogatory to or of yourself.
Createach:
i saw that....but the problem is i saw that after i posted my second answer......
Createach:
at that time china was doing good in the Olympics but now USA........so i guess the question has hit the spot here............God bless
because of the track and field sport in america is strong
America is the best at the Olympics because there is no such thing as "Americans". Yes there are people who live in America or have lived in America for many generations. However everyone that lives in America now has roots from somewhere else in their past. Every nationality is a part of America. While other countries like Australia and the UK also have large immigrant populations, they are tiny compared to America's. Think of it this way, if your making a machine but you can only use one part or material, or cooking with only one ingredient. Would it be fair to put you in a competition with someone who can use all the parts, materials and ingredients from all over the world? No, not fair at all. While China has done very well in the recent games. A country like China where a "laowai" will always be a "laowai" will never be able to compete with a country like America.
LAR:
"A country..............................America." Yes, that is due to China's xenophobia, ethnocentrism and racism.
because most people start playing all sports at 4 years old and the stars rise at an early age baseball football volleyball basketball swiming we all play these sports
Logic dictates that if your country participates in a sport that allows only one player per category then your country can win only one medal of any colour. If your country participates in a sport that allows any amount of players per category then your country can win gold, silver and bronze. I'm sure people can do the maths.
Perhaps they should change the rules in the pool and athletics, they did with cycling.
Lol and Chinese as well.
They put in a lot f time that answers it...
The days i visited the Oly park the Chinese and American dudes grabbed 90% of the Gold... wwasnt funny for team GB but was glad how it ended though
1) They're in it to win it. Losing is for losers, and winners play to win.
2) Those kids have got a lot of that special quality they don't got a name for. Lets call it "gumption".
3) Sometimes it ain't about winning or losing, it's about heart. And even if those kids go out there and lose, they still got more heart in their pinky finger than the other sides got combined. And no cold-blooded rusky can take that away.
xing qu shi cheng gong de yi ban.i think Americans good at Olympics.Because they are love to their sports.Their parents do not restrict their talent. They can do anything they love to.In one word,They are free to do things they love.
Money..connections and drugs (the undetected ones now).
Or it could be a real support system for national sports with real incentives (national ad campaigns are far more lucrative than the pittance the Chinese government gives their athletes).
I have read stories about homeless former Olympic athletes in China....do they realize this too late or do they have the wherewithal to say fu*k it...why bother?
LAR:
Oh, you didn't mention about the drug usage regarding Chinese athletes as well as athletes from other nations a******. :(
bill8899:
I don't think the Chinese athletes have a choice. Just my opinion.
Superior athletes, effort, years and years and years of hard and difficult training, mental toughness and diligence.
Some decent points, but everyone is forgetting a major one.
Athletes in America train for the sports because they LOVE them. Michael Phelps trained hard and passionately for swimming because he wanted to be the best in the world. He wasn't forced into a school at a young age and told he was going to be a swimmer, it was his own dreams and desires that made that happen. See also: Any other sporting legend from the US.
Because Americans are excellent in only those sports event which carries largest no. of Medals..38 Sports Event.. total 305 Gold and swimming alone 34 Gold.. (USA 31- 16 Gold, 9 Silver, Bronze - 6)
AND Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, tennis - Together 12 GOLDS..
So I think in Olympic the medal arrangement is totally not biased in favor of country DIRECTLY but in favor of a particular sport event..and if one country does well in that particular sports event, then obviously there are chances to get top on the list.. SO IT IS BIASED INDIRECTLY
Explanation:
There are simply too many swimming events at the Olympics. This is quantified because one single person is able to win almost 10 medals at one event ... and he is only good at one sport... "swimming". Why the multiple styles and lengths if one person is able to win so many? Doesnt that indicate that they are too similar?
Since this is china related I will answer this question with a simple they train hard.
