It would help if the airlines pulled these people into line as a matter of safety protocol... But China has a long way to go with any focus on safety - After people die the government talks about punishing the 'guilty ' or 'responsible ' party... Get the safety issue happening -

It's kind of funny to see how flight attendants on non-Chinese airlines handle them. You can immediately tell which ones have learned how the typical Chinese passenger behaves, and which ones think they'll actually follow instructions and be polite.

Hell, with the American carriers, at least, all the attendants are jaded, sullen old women now. No way they're going to take any shit from a Chinese passenger that can't behave himself.

These people were taught (or taught by absence of parents) not to give a rat's ass about other people. It's that same quasi-brain-dead thinking they use when they rush past you in the queue to get something. They want something, they must get it. Now. 20 people in front of them? NOW!

Violence is the only way that works with these people. Only once did I have one of these douches sitting next to me. I was bubbling up inside waiting (and praying) for him to do something that would infringe upon my personal space. He tried to jump over me to go to the bathroom without asking me to move. He came on top of me and his sweating beer-belly grazed my arms. I grabbed him by the shirt and threw him back on his seat and had him ask me politely to move.

Guy didn't say another word that whole trip.

Last time I flew home on a non-chinese airline one them stood up right after the plane landed. The flight attended was not polite about it at all, she barked at him, he tried to pull the "i don't understand shit" and so she bluntly said "You've been told to sit, now sit."

I have never seen this happen in airplanes here at all but I can believe it from what everyone has written above.

I travel by hard and soft train sleeper very often in China and I have seen all of those kind of terrible manners on the train, however -- mostly in soft sleeper.  So truly they must exist.  I wonder if anyone else has seen this kind of behavior on Chinese trains?

For one, they arent exposed to the behavior of people outside their city/town/village much. And China, like many developed countries, have a lot of rules, laws, and ads to encourage following them. However, unlike a lot of countries, about 99% of the people dont follow them at all (smoking in public buildings, littering, red lights mean stop).

So take someone out of that situation and put them in a situation where rules are indeed very important and strictly obeyed. It probably doesnt occur to them that this is any different.

It is true what everyone above has mentioned but it applies not only to airplanes, trains, buses...it's everywhere you go.  I've been in a supermarket waiting on line to get some vegetables weighed when some lady just cuts right to the front- luckily the clerk had some sense to tell the lady to get in line- I guess he saw me glaring at him like I was about to knock him out..

first, I doubt that it is real  polo shirt. There are a lot of fake CK, D&G, LV,sports ,prada etc. I think vero moda, only, zara would be real. chinese people are still poor. They cannot afford luxury goods, even though chinese is ranking NO.1? to purchase lavish goods, only account for very small part of population.

I think manners are related to economical situation, not only personal economical situation but also countries. in recent years, you can see people queue when they take bus or subway. This happens in big city often, like Beijing.

you cannot compare this to rich country. my word maynot be conviced. I am curious  how other poor countries do.

My only guess is that those Chinese have not been exposed much to outside of China and know the only Chinese way to behave, "me first" attitude and so on.
