Q: Why are foreigners limited on how much of their own money they can witdraw every day?

This seems high discriminatory to me and should be super illegal.

You're in China. Deal with it. Their country, their rules.

Talk to your bank at home.   For security reasons it is they who limit your withdrawals.   I'm sure if you're rich enough they can come to some arrangement.

Actually you can get around the restrictions by opening a Hong Kong Account at HSBC and then opening an HSBC account in Beijing. You can then draw out as much of your money as you like without restriction.

I hope this is a more practical solution than "just deal with it".

I too had this shock when I came to China and needed to send money home for a sudden family funeral and discovered I could not access my own damn money . It still angers me to this day how there are doubles standards for foreigners on the banking world, yet they keep asking us to invest here. This is an issue that should be dealt with trough a WTO complaint from a few dozen people. If that happened the issue would be moot within six months.

You've been shocked by so many things in China. How long have you been here?

hi, friend, I think perhaps you misunderstand the people.

I am Chinese and have bank card also,  when I open a bank card, there is a daily limit selection in the apply form,  if you do not fill it, I think the standard limit is 5000 RMB / day, you can ask your bank change for you, such as 20000 RMB/ day or do what you want, it's your own money, hope this is helpful for you.

Your's truly Chinese friend

The Chinese government is too damn obvious in how they try to tilt the tables and impose double standards on everyone living in China.  They make no effort to hide their BS.

giadrosich:

Lol. Why should they try to hide it! It's not like anyone can do anything about it...
