Q: Why are Lenovo laptops so expensive?

Some Lenevo laptops with the same specs as other laptop brands can be priced 3-4 times more expensive. Why so?

One reason is the brand, just as you buy clothes of the same quality, you have to pay much more for the well-known brands than the others.

Because it's the only company with any respect internationally, since they had the cash to buy up an American company and pass real computers off as their own.

i never liked overpriced ibm computers when they did business in america and now they sold out and changed the name, i see they continued the same old same old, high prices because we think were better and you should think that way to, god i love hating elitists.

Amonk:

I don't think it's elitist to suggest that American-made products are superior to Chinese ones. In fact, I've got plenty of rich Chinese talking on their iPhones whilst driving their GM cars to make my case for me.

ambivalentmace:

funny how the chinese think gm is a good car because mao drove a buick , but americans know the government motors quality sucks and i had to deal with a lousy pontiac catalina through 4 years of college.

not sure quality cars have ever been made in america, will stick with lexus and toyota , when i was in the foreign legion in africa, the toyota corolla taxis were 30 years old and still running, most people look at the design of a car , i want one that is still around working  for my coffin.

Chinese products suck, but so do American ones, so that makes it okay? I'm starting to understand your affinity for the Chinese...

You cannot beat a Lenovo Thinkpad T series if you need something that can stand being used as a laptop, that is, go travel, being moved every day. If you open them up you will see they have an inside frame made of metal.

Lenovo has excellent post sales support, worldwide.

I also do not think the price difference is 3-4 times, but yeah, generally they are not cheap. .

I guess Lenovo must be a big thing in China (or at least more than in the West).
I've owned a lot of computers/laptops but the only companies I buy from nowadays are Dell and Asus.

Dell computers are not always the cheapest deal around; BUT, what I really like about them is that you can just give them a call, give them specifics and they'll ship you exactly what you want. I've owned some laptops from Dell for 7-8 years and they're still running fine!

Asus has been selling good quality desktop replacements for a few years now at competitive price.
My only complain with them is that their ventilation/cooling solutions are not efficient enough.

Companies like Sony or HP are either always overpriced and live off the brand marketing or sell generic stuff and target primarily a more professional customer base.

Anyway, I'm sure everyone has a different opinion and experience of all the companies out there.
In the end, I'm sure a lot of the components are made at the same places, then assembled differently and laptops you end up buying benefit from different marketing strategies and customer service.
