Q: Why are the pictures in the menus of food they don't serve in restaurants?

What the title says. It something I consider illogical and abnormal. At first I thought it was just one restaurant whose owner was on the dumb side. I was wrong. so many restaurants adorn their menus with pictures of food they do not serve. It's a nightmare for me as I rely on pictures due to my lamentable Chinese.

well you come obviously from a primitive culture, with china's 8000 years of history it is well known that photos of foods that you can eat elsewhere in fact stimulate your appetite while ordering different food it's a kind if feng shui...

everything here is copied without a thought to reason they see restaurants in other countries with pictures of food so they just copy it without realizing that the pictures have something to do with the food served.

I honestly had never had that experienced here, granted the food is not as nice looking as the pictures but they are the same food.

I guess I've worked on quality issues for too long here... the idea anything in China be consistent (whether it be from the picture or from the last time you order it), makes me laugh.

Just stick with the Chinese mentality of 耳听为虚,眼见为实
Believe it when you see it.

Yeah, that's annoying. What else is annoying is when the title of the food doesn't describe the dish at all. What's with that?

A:it is up to you do decide how much money you are prepared to spend on your family.if you buy fake goods you are supporting what would be considered (possibly) criminals as faking products is considered a criminal activity in many other countries.do you support criminal activity?not knowing this seems unbelievable.but in China this is considered 'clever'I am surprised at the questions you ask.I can not decide if you are really as naive as your questions make you seem, as these are what I would expect a normal person to ask friends.  -- sorrel
