Q: Why are there no big birds (crows, seagulls, ravens) in Guangzhou

they couldn't have eaten them all, could they?  Even on the sea, here in Zhanjiang, I do not see seagulls.

If you go south from Guangzhou to the fishing villages you will also see very few birds. My vote is on pollution or that their normal hunting grounds are too tightly controlled by all the rats running around

I guess animals gain an extinct for avoiding places in which they are unsafe. Then migration patterns take over. Perhaps the genetic coding developed "avoid China DNA" several centuries ago!
