Q: Why are there so many damn sex shops in China?
And why are they so openly in sight? Back home it's at least a little more discreet...here they're everywhere in the big streets...
I thought Chinese cared a lot about face...wouldn't you therefore want those sex shops a little hidden?

The new chinese society is more urban, more western and open minded. Besides they are very horny by nature. To keep the sanity of the country within crime limit because of the huge population coupled with expats, the govt has acted well on massage parlours, sex shops et al. By being discreet its still gonna happen...so why not be open. When you have things open you accept it as a way of life or lifestyle but when you are curbed....then the problem starts. I believe its good for all!
Ya they are definitely more visible in China than back home in Texas!
Hell, it is easier to buy a gun in Texas than it is to buy a sex toy!
But it is strange in a society that is so seemingly reserved about sex that sex shops are so common. I guess doing the old dirty is gettn' mighty popular.

70% of the worlds sex toys are made in China, somebody has to buy them,, and it says made in China on it so they make a moar memorable sovenir than a T-shirt or other type,,,

I think the whole "stop breeding" initiative by the government has alot to do with it.
Makes condoms visible, people will use them.

I also wondered same way...
I had many occasions during weekends ,all the hotel rooms will be full though there are many in small area....Even in parks I have found young and old people coupling ...
Are there too many prostitutes or people having a Secret affairs for that they need to take a hotel room....?
I don't know either. last time I saw three 4-10 year old girls playing with the "samples" . I guess they are the shop keeper's daughters
seems easy way to make fast money even with the competition around i guess....... known as prostitution, call-girls. you see shops around, if you can clearly observe the houses so some monkey-business is also going on
