Q: Why are the washrooms called WC?
The public restrooms/washrooms are referred to as a 'WC'
''I need to go to the WC.''
Why?
The WC refers to the initial letters of Water Closet, which, despite being an English language abbreviation, is not in common use in English-speaking countries – but is widely used internationally: in France (pronounced "le vay-say" or "le vater"), in Italy (pronounced "vi-ci" or "vater"), Romania (pronounced "veh-cheu") and Hungary (pronounced "vey-tsay"), the Netherlands (pronounced "waysay"), Germany and Switzerland (pronounced "ve-tse"), Denmark (pronounced "ve-se"), Norway (pronounced "vay-say") Poland (pronounced "vu-tse") and others
I like the way of the Philippines ,,,,,,,, CR - Comfort Room.
kinda has a nice connotation about it....
WC means Water Closet...............Right?
Createach:
i thought it meant......Wine Closet...Damn i should quit drinking
You're all completely mistaken, lavatories are actually given the initials WC after the late, great Winston Churchill. It was a change that came about post world war two in memory of his marvelous work in leading the country in battle. Churchill was commented, on hearing of this honor to be bestowed upon him, as saying, "I'd have much rather a watch."
Createach:
so WC or loo or crapper or lavatory was named WC for the memory of Winston Churchill......How enlightening is this theory.......................LOL
mArtiAn:
Not half as enlightening as it is offensive, but hey, all in the name of fun, eh?
Createach:
haha.............i Guess WC flipped twice in his grave right now..............Wahahahaha
