Q: Why are the white models used in ads here so butt-ugly?
Was going to the cinema with the gf and on the way up the escalator were at least 3 or 4 massive ads on the walls for random products. Each had white female models, and all of them, without exception, were either completely nondescript or very, very ugly.
Now I understand people have different tastes and standards, but this is really pushing it.
Haven't really looked at whether or not the white guys in ads were as ugly, maybe the girls can pitch in.
I wouldn't say they are ugly. I think that many of the models used have the bone structure, which is what is sought after in high fashion. I find most of those girls to be unattractive, but that is up to each person's opinion. The guys are generally more attractive, but again, that's personal opinion. They're obviously somewhat attractive to the people who live here, because otherwise those ads would use different models.

Because usually it's models who are too ugly to make it in their home countries so they come to a country that still worships everything white to get work.
I have seen some that are not as attractive as one would like, but I would not say that all or even most are ugly, let alone "butt ugly".
so dose that mean people like me that have to date blind girls have a chance?

I think the theory of relativity applies on this one 
I don't think they are that attractive either, but why not use more Chinese models to sell in China..."the white is right" theory seems too easy of an excuse...or is that really the case?

Yes, some of the white guy models used here are also not what I would especially consider attractive. Some are. I've not paid much attention to the girls!
I always assumed it was down to the different standards of beauty between the cultures.
yes, and i love it when one of those models is tryng to do a sexy look/pose but ends up looking absolutely ridiculous.
Even though there are modeling agencies around for aspiring models to find gigs, a lot of time its more random. for example. I knew a girl who was asked to model for a furniture company. The person doing the ad wanted a white face, and he saw her while she was working at her hotel. So she got the part even though she wasnt a model and had no experience.

It's like any other industry here. If they can't afford to hire one from an agency, they'll go freelance and just hope the person they hire can do it. Only the higher up companies can afford to hire a real model from an agency so they just hire either white students or younger teachers.
sorry guys I am not racist,but i will just say they are chosen just because they are white.To chinese-white are god!!no offense guys plz ...but really!!!
yeah and I bet you think those same model girls are so "bitchy" because they don't fawn over you like a chinese girl might.

Actually, extensa is partially right. Just take a look at how even young girls will use an umbrella every time they go out because they do not want to get tanned, and the ammount of 'whitening' products available in beauty shops. Many have an obsession with having light colored skin.
