Q: why are wu maos are working overtime combating news stories about china's economy.

it seems like a waste of effort they are targeting foreign news outlets they're not going to fool or sway foreigners. so what's the point

They don't understand how foreigners think. They don't know what works on us, and what doesn't. I'm sure that as long as they are getting some value from it, whether points, money, or just amusement, they will continue. I don't know if they're wu mao, and I don't care. It's not my job to police those sites, so it doesn't bother me. If you get annoyed, or laugh a little, either way it doesn't affect them. They'll continue to do it until there's no benefit in their eyes. 1. Post pro-China propaganda on news sites. 2. ???? 3. profit?

For real? I guess we should change the question to "Why is the government cracking down more? Why now?" Well, maybe other people have an idea. Is something going on I don't know about, or is the government being panicked by the direction the country is going in...?
