Q: why can't Chinese come up with an original idea?
im not talking about cheap knockoffs, im talking copying things like an ikea store. why copy ikea? why not build your own brand? i mean copy a whole store?
it seems that the chinese idea of innovation is go and copy something that's already been successful. will China ever produce an original product? a chinese top brand that isnt copy of somthing?

China was the 1st in many things... way back..... Pizza.. (Marco Polo took it to Italy and made some changes.. same as Chinese Dumpling... Ravioli??? Paper?? im sure there is a long list which us westerners can be without

As of now China isn't being very innovative. But in the future I think this will change if the educational system can actually move beyond memorizing useless texts and basing progression and intelligence off of written tests

Sorry but Newton was Chinese. So was Bill Gates. So is Barack Obama. And Genghis Khan was DEFINITELY Chinese, no way he was Mongolian. Tom Cruise is also Chinese, so is OJ Simpson, as are Sarah Palin, Amy Winehouse, Margaret Thatcher, Kathy Lee Gifford, Richard the Lionheart and Gaahl from Gorgoroth (sorry Njord, but the truth hurts).

also, china hasn't invented anything too substantial ,but we should be happy that ,at least it didn't go stealing and kidnapping scientists from other countries;like the U.S did from Germany ..

But one thing I can teach u is about Genghis Khan, he surely was Chinese, he was one who made China become one really big China, and if he can live longer, guess there will be no Europe……and maybe no America, who knows. Chinese is not the people who speaks Mandarin, is the people who lives in this land or has this blood. Don't get me wrong, 200years ago, there is no such country called Mongolia, thanks to the westerners, my home town is Inner Mongolia when I say that, a lot people think I am a foreigner too, what did ur school teach u?

Traditionally, China has got its up and downs. there was a great up when the big four were invented, it was more or less balanced but it's true it's been a down for the last 100 years or so, when all the big discoveries and inventions happened. But China is going upward, just look at the economy! Maybe there is nothing immensly breathtaking that China invented for the last decades, but the time is nigh!
