Q: Why can't foreigners retire in China?
I found me a nic hammock under the shade of to palm trees on Silver Beach in Beihai (Guanxi) with a cold beer delivery girl here, but they tell me I must leave when I turn 60! Why!
you dont need to leave when you turn 60. You just cant get a work visa usually. Judging from the amounts of old people you see everywhere in Beijing and Wuhan??? on holidays. Getting L visas shouldnt be a problem. And by youd probably be married so family visas would also be OK. Like your post, just make sure your RETIRED.
pretty sure I am retired and also pretty sure I am in China . not 60 yet though...not far from your hammock in Beihai either.
Just add a Chinese wife to your plan and you will have to worry little..
You cannot get a work visa after age 60 from what I was told by my veteran China buds.
You can get permanent residency, aka "Chinese Green Card". The condition to get it have been relaxed recently.

I am not doing much, so must be retired.... hmmm pretty cool to retire before turning 40 :)
