Q: Why is China called the Middle Kingdom

The middle of what exactly, what do Chinese believe to be on either side of China to place it in in the middle.

In ancient times, Chinese people believed China was between heaven and earth, hence the Middle Kingdom.

Zhong means middle and zhong guo is china......................no idea about the kingdom thing.......just translated the meaning of china and yes chinese are self-centered people and they think they are the best.......whatever.....no one is the best
