Q: Why Chinese drink hot water?

A lot of westerners are mocking that Chinese drink hot/warm water in all the season. I did a research by checking the doctor's comments online. The doctory saies westerners ate a lot of high calories food in their daily life so their body is quite warm, drinking cold water actually helps keep a balance of their healthy. While the Chinese's food diet is very diffrent and drinking hot and warm water actually helps them to keep a balance of healthy.
It is like why Sichuan people won't get sick after eatting so much spicy food but ZheJiang people will get sick,because of the whether and their body system has used to it.

I've read that drinking hot water actually does have some benefits, I don't think it's all superstition. I actually had a couple of friends who after moving to China now swear by it, they thought it was nonsense before.

I'm a bit sceptical about the reasons Chinese give for it though and I think going into a panic because someone drinks cold water is an over the top reaction.

I think the people who judge something fast based on their own experience is very superficial.Human's body system can be varied due to the diffrent daily diet, the weather. Some saies Chinese grow in western countries have no problem drinking cold/icy water maybe because their diet is western style. We have to look things on many factors. When I'm in Europe, the food here really made me want to drink cold water. Yesterday my girl period came, I took some hot water from hotel bathroom and took a rest in bed, soon after I felt much better. Your friend who moved to China has been eatting Chinese food, it may break their own body system balance a bit and need hot eater to keep the balance.

There is a diffrence for cold and icy water(water has ice in). To me in summer(not during my girl period time), drinking cold water at normal temperature actually helps my body feel more comfortable cause the outside temperature is too high and my body needs a balance. But icy water is a no no for whatever season for me. It will cause me problem after too much icy water.
