Because beards here are rare and usually only older people have them.

Beyond 1 day stuble....I have never met a girl here that liked it.

Dream87:

I like my boyfriend's beard. He kept some, but not too much.Which makes him look sexy.Plus when he kisses me,I like the a little beard touching my skin, makes me feel exciting.I guess not all men look good on beard, but my bf look good with it. But he keeps beard because he thinks it makes him look older.Lol...I guess many young western men worry about looking too young without beard. It is really unecessary to worry avout .I thinkbmost men without beard look better.Good to look young or younger.

My friends dont like my beard because they say it makes me look like a "Xinjiangren" which is for China what we Puertorricans are to the US.

My last girlfriend liked it, but then again, she was Muslim.

Or maybe they are just jealous 'cause most of them cannot grow one?

I'm not Chinese, but I don't like beards or a lot of facial hair either. I do see some guys have a little facial hair, but not a full blown beard. Maybe they just don't find it attractive.

I like my beard because it lets me turn fear against those who would prey on the fearful.

I'm growing a neatly trimmed beard with a light mustache, and I don't really care what the locals think. The ignorant bafoons already think I'm a Xinjianren just because (gasp!) I'm a brunette with giant, slanted eyes (someone in my family several generations ago was a full-blooded Native American). They actually believe that all Americans are either black or else are straight-up Arians. If they give me lip about it, I'll just tell them that none of them look Chinese to me because they're all over 170 cm.

I've had a moustache since high school. Chinese women didn't like it. I shaved it off and never grew it back.

Chinese women don't like it because it's abrasive. When you're rubbing your abrasive radula on their faces while trying to kiss them, it's a bit uncomfortable.

if it is a full blown neck beard, I can sorta empathize with them. Unless you're a Dwarven warrior, Gandalf, or Santa Clause, then it just looks messy and tacky.

If it is just facial scruff, Chinese people don't hate that at all. If you grow it right, it can really enhance your facial look. The key is don't grow it too shaggy. Body hair is a different story though. Chinese usually don't like body hair.

I've found that Chinese women like body hair.

My girlfriend likes my beard, but she is studying in Hong Kong, thus is more open minded and international than other Chinese folks.

I would say Chinese people are scared of beards. They are not used to them though. Some women like them here, most don't. I found that whilst I was single if I was clean shaven women approached me. If I had a beard men approached me. I became clean shaven, lol.

jetfire9000:

Yeah that's a good point. Guys and women always have different opinions on what looks good. Men try to pursue building up their muscles a lot more, but in reality women really don't care about that too much - it's sorta like a fetish for some, but most couldn't care less so long as you aren't fat. Also, the same with facial hair. Chinese women typically find it annoying, whereas guys will admire you for being so masculine for having it.

Whilst walking in Guangzhou [GZ] a few years past, I observed a car coming to an abrupt halt close to me, the door flung open with a middle age woman hurrying toward me, with what I thought to be a barrage of verbal abuse. Not sure just what was about to take place, I took a stance preparing for some kind of attack. Coming to an abrupt halt just feet from me she reaching out gently and proceeded  to stroke my beard, I was dum founded. After what seemed a mesmerizing few minutes she calming returned to her car  drove away, tooting the horn. Gathering my senses I was then ware of the hoard of bystanders having a giggle about the matter.
