Q: Why did the NORTH Korean girl band 'Moranbong' return to Korea after just arriving in China?

Shortly after arrival in china for a concert at Beijing, the all girl band 'Moranbong' canceled their appearance

and flew back to Korea before even the first musical note was played.

Does anyone know the reason?

It was supposed to be a goodwill tour after Korea's and China's relationship has been rather frosty.

Word around the campfire is the band was asked to change some lyrics - one line if I remember right -and they refused.

I suppose some fragile egos got bruised on either the Korean or Chinese side.

Indeed, that is also what I have found out and is mentioned in the European press.

I believe they were from the DPRK.  Probably had an urgent appointment back home that they couldn't knock back and which relieved them of their despair (lives).

bayuvar139:

Yes, they were from the DPRK and I just forgot to mention that.

This girl band is really very good but, as another person here mentioned

there was a disagreement with the China's functionaries about changing

some lyrics and the band refused. So, they went home again.

This article sums it up.

The Chinese gov was supposed to send a top official to one of the concerts but scrapped that idea after the whole H-bomb situation unearthed itself.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
