Q: Why do chinese love Americans so much?
I am very shocked about this behavior but everyday I see many chinese wearing the American flag, or just trying to Imitate the northamerican accent., some schools are even Moore interested in hiring northamerican than other native speakers . I have some American friends and they feel super heros in china,
Because most modern culture comes from America.
American TV shows make American people's lives look exciting, and American people confident and liberated. I guess that is what anyone living a cultureless, soul-destroying purgatory desires. Apparently servitude and boredom isn't enough for most humans (Karl Marx and the CCP didn't foresee this).
There is a vast cultural vacuum in China. Young people need something to be interested in. The CCP pushes the words "Chinese Culture" down Chinese people's throats, while neglecting to mention what Chinese Culture is.
All Chinese productions are either repellant China-prop (the News, WW2 drama, etc.) or inferior rip-offs of foreign products (Voice of China, talk shows, music, etc.).
America exports an image and ideology that people want. China exports tedious self-praise that makes people think "fuck you, China".
Regarding the flags - I've seen more gear with the British flag than the American one. People buy it because it looks cool. I like the American flag too.

There's not a whole lot to get behind with media productions here...we all have a psychological "anti-sales" part of our brain that kicks in when we realize that someone is trying to 'sell' something to us be it a product or a belief, that's not something we really want.
By not being too obvious about them, American shows tend to be good at slipping ideals and values past the part of your brain that tells you to stop paying attention.

I dont know what chinese you met but all the people who ask me where i am from and i dont say america then they are very reliefed.
my personal feeling is that most dont like americans, dunno why

Maybe Chinese don't like ya very much. ;o) Chinese seem to be very happy to hear I'm American. Sometimes I'm confused as German or Russian and told I don't "look American" but when they hear that I am, they definitely don't seem disappointed to hear it. It seems to make them more happy in some cases, and they have a lot more things to talk about since they don't have too many ideas to go off of when it comes to other countries. It's really all about how ya carry yourself. If you're a good representative of your country, they will have a better opinion of it.

Speaking of flags, on our National Days ie USA & mine (Aust) we proudly display our colours, cos we are genuinley proud. We don't need Govt. coercion to display the flag. In China...I have noted the people dont celebrate their Day, as we do. WHY?

It could be because Americans are the only nationality the Chinese can condescendingly frown at for being too loud in a restaurant.
Chinese can gain face from that....

Coz in the recent years USA was widely the number 1 economy in the world and since chinese like to adore or always focus in 1 but no more than 2 when benchmark then their dream became to be as USA. Call it, economy, development, equality, amuseness, environment, etc, etc. Sadly they may reach only 1 or 2 of them but still, most of people idealize going to USA as a dream.
I'm not so sure that Chinese love Americans so much but they do seem to love America for lots of the reasons already mentioned. I used to think they did but after several years here I see another side that really kind of looks down on Americans. A side that says, if I were in America I could do much better. A side that strongly judges any Americans who come here. Yeah there are some opportunities for Americans here but don't believe Chinese really admire us, they don't.

Don't be fooled. I think only young American women and girls like Americans for two reasons. The first is a green card and the second reason you can find between your legs. Chinese businessmen like American also because we are mostly easy to swindle.
Pretty sure it's due to the presence that the US has, China and America are always considered the super-powers of the world. I'm from UK and simply because I'm a white wai guo ren I always get asked if I'm from America... but then look at the size of England in comparison. The presence of US English teachers generally outweighs everyone else, it's only natural for them to assume we're all American.
Do they really, I think not. or maybe as most people in the world think Americans are rich. When in fact most are up to their necks in debt.
May be as a social and civilized country people from around the world would like US but it's not exactly the only two things about US. I wish if US could have restrain from the bullshit expeditions around the world costing lives of Americans and oppositions. Educate people as killing of ten costly years were like beating a dead horse. As per my experience Chinese people don't trust US government or may be their policies. I can't expect some calling themselves expats being so proud of your packages, other way round look into that with a perspective of the female expats. I hope you won't get offended.

The Chinese word for the USA is MeiGuo美国, which kinda translates to Beautiful Country. An American is basically a Beautiful Country Man美国人. I wonder why they even chose those characters to describe a foreign country in the first place. 美女 is beautiful woman, and so on. Perhaps Chinese draw too much meaning from their language?

It's true, Chinese love American (sic). And they hate them. Like love Japan, HATE Japan. In fact, China hates everyone. Because said everyone doesn't give a rat's arse about China.

For the world that's not directly involved in day to day trade with China, China doesn't really exist.

I've seen a Kid all deck out in American Army uniform - complete with the belt, hat, ammo and pistol holster strapped to his leg, big ass American flag on his shoulder and with a camo backpack. I'm no American but this was funny as hell, and just so you know it was in a bar about 1 am, maybe he thinks hes rambo or something...

On the flip side of that....I saw an American (that I knew) wearing a full Chinese camo uniform, including shoes and cap in a restaurant. I asked him where the war was or if he was going to repair a road, he told me he'd just been to a meeting with some officials. I love Americans in China....endless comedy.
I had an American friend teaching English language. He used to get the highest salary and feel super hero and did nothing in job. Finally, he was fired from the job.
I had worked in American running company in China for earnly ten years and when I quit the job and walk out of the office building, I feel so liberated. Actually, I almost run out of the working place like running away from a monster. Well, years later I learnt balance and could still see the lovely and bright side of Americans.
