Parents actually assist their baby to piss in the middle of a department store isle.
Parents assist their baby to take a dump on a public sidewalk.
Yea I did a double take the first time I saw that.
Chinese are obsessed about hygiene (because everything and everywhere is so dirty), so I imagine that's the reason baby have that special pant slit in the first place.
Other reason could just be because they're lazy.
Third reason is because they're eco-friendly and don't want to destroy the environment.
Fourth reason is because they save money doing that.
Or all of the above.
I really don't get that either. What kind of message are they sending their kids by letting them piss and poop wherever they like. Parenting is about setting rules and limits and preparing your kids for adult life, therefore I can only come to the conclusion that those who allow their kids to do this are bad parents.
in westerners mind, to do something by themself is the key point, even the piss, but in chinese mind, to help the weak people(including baby or the old people ) is a kind of love or help,
can you understand now?
Chen I think you missed the point.
Helpful parents could take the toddler to the WC instead of using any place and every place as a WC. This is lack of respect for all people
I saw adults and kids piss on a sidewalk corner. It's called convenience. Haha.
I saw Chinese and non-Chinese piss at one time so it's not a Chinese per say problem.
U do know 1/5 of the world population is in China.
And we have this old saying, the forest is bigger, the more different kinds of birds live.
in china , because he is child ,so no person blame the young child . I don't know you can understand or not ?
And the Chinese answers to this thread are symptomatic of the uncivilized. I understand basic laziness and lack of concern for your fellow human beings.
Without assistance, the kids would make a big mess, so it's common courtesy to help them. Back in Montana, 'Merica, in my village we have that young man, he's a bit simple, and he would always ask the pretty ladies to help him when he haz a urge. They refuse most of the time, and damn the mess he makes. And he's alone. I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen in China if all the kids didn't receive assistance!
I was walking through a wal-mart in Tian Jin once and saw a parent assisting her son to take a sizable dump in the center of the produce aisle while the 45 workers that were in charge of that area looked on... I said in a loud voice "hao e xin!" (Disgusting!) And people looked at me like I was the disgusting one for being disgusted at such a scene of beauty... I was going to get the parent's address so I could similarly relieve myself in their kitchen.. but alas my friends were in a hurry so we left.
I found the answers below unfair, sterotype and stupid. The parents show a lack of real concern and care for others. That's your real answer!
Becuase they lack education and no one can also tell them that what they doing is wrong.Everyone is less concern instead they will laughing.
Completely sends the wrong message.
People have to pick behind their dogs but letting their own kids piss and crap everywhere is fine. Where's the logic?
When you have to go you have to go. I bet a number of people that claim they have never seen somebody pissing somewhere other than a bathroom is just telling their sweet little lies. Some people act to amazed that it can only happen in china. People use the bathroom in the woods and if they really need to go they might even go behind a building. Yes, creating their own bathroom in the middle of the road/sidewalk or department store is terrible, but "when you got to go you got to go".
Jnusb416:
Well, most people have the decency to go against a wall or behind a building, where no one sees much. The children, however, are allowed to go wherever is closest. If there's no trashcan nearby, oh well, I guess they can just go on the sidewalk or even in a public building. But hey, they're just a kid, that's ok, right? Right?

Forget the 'not seeing much' - how about the 'not stepping in'??? This is part of the ridiculousness of this country - on one hand, there's this big hygiene thing of cleaning everytime you sit down, washing your cutlery and crockery before you eat, etc etc... but then, ppl will literally let their kids piss and shit ANYWHERE they want... and who gives a f*
