Q: Why do chinese people laugh so much?

Hello my name is Ernesto I am a Spanish guy living in China, I am sorry about my english.

My company in Spain has offered me a job here for some years so I have come with my family. My chinese is not very well but the other day going back home I just saw some workers in a construction and I asked the manager who was in the sidewalk why the workers don,t use ropes, and he looked at me and start laughing. I think it is not fun at all!!!!, if the workers fall down they can die. It happens to me many times. The other day also in the highway with two chinese guys, we saw a man fallen down from a motorbike he was bleeding, and no one was stopping, I told my workmate to stop but they just laugh.

It looks like that Chinese love laughing, I am starting to hate this behaviour, lack of ethic.

living and loving life is a good thing .................getting up and picking yourself up after a crash is a good thing................  holy shit, I survived/made it.............  yippeeeeee....happy ..

.I sent a pic home of a guy on the twentieth floor moving a banner around, totally freaked me out, I was shaking when I took the pic,    but he was like a flipping mountain goat, no problem.

I think we should not judge these folks.............  I think, if somebody in Canada. USA, Australia or Spain gets a little injury, they look to the government or if they can afford it, a lawyer to claim for their injury ...............  In China, they shake it off and get back to work, and I totally respect them for that ..........  and laughing is a good thing

Welcome Ernesto! I'm a BIG fan of your country's national futbol team!!! Smile The Spanish Armada!! ^^ A Chinese gal that I used to work with mentioned that the Chinese laugh when uncomfortable. I would agree in part with that. (Certainly not the only reason.)

They are laughing because they are nervous. You should try to smile more and not be so serious.

Scandinavian:

Wouldn't it be the person laughing who should try to be serious. No matter what the topic, if it is a serious topic to the person you are talking to, laughing is disrespectful.

There are no safety issues, so many people, it doesn't matter if they loose a few. If you see someone go splat, it doesn't matter unless a Japanese caused it.

Maybe it's just part of their conditioned lifestyle. Like a student in school that tries hard to answer a question but the teacher just laughs and humiliates them. Like poorly skilled doctors who needlessly inflict pain on their patients in the name of "treatment" and then laugh at the anguish. Like the police here that laugh at the victims of petty crime. And then the ultimate annoyance - the officials in banks and institutions that get great amusement out of customers getting angry at mistakes that they, the bank or institution have made themselves.

I am sure that humiliation is a part and parcel of the Chinese psyche.

:

I assume you are a Chinese and if so, it couldn't better come out such approach but from a Chinese. Anyway your approach it is so acute that I enjoyed it it.Yes, I believe humiliation is part of the Chinese psyche.

Because they live in China! Believe me, the longer you live in China, the more you will laugh. It keeps you from going crazy!

A:You can still skin into China as a non-English native teacher by holding English Teaching license in your home country.2nd: Your BA degree should be completed in a native English country. Once, you fulfilled these 'parameters', you qualify for an English teaching job in China as a non-native English sneaker with Z - Entry/Working visa with Working and Residence permit later on. See the last 'Answers Highlight' ---> there is a web link posted about 'requirements for teaching English language in China as a non-English native passport holder'. https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/guide-teaching-english-china#paragraph-item-63614-target

*English proficiency: Passport from one of seven "native speaker" countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa). If you aren’t a native speaker, you’ll need to be a certified teacher in your home country with proof of your English proficiency (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL). I'd say, Chinese will choose and look especially for a native English speaker at teaching of English Literature job openings. Posted job adverts for English Literature teaching are most likely from International Schools in China. Good luck! -- icnif77
