Q: why do girls lie about having a BF?
many girls i meet they say they dont have a bf, but later slip up and it comes out that they do, some do it to keep you interested so they can practice english but what are the other stupid reasons

Some use it to practice english like you said. Some use it as an ego boost, like having this laowai showing so much interest in her. And some are just evil enough that they actually use it to hold over their bf's head. She expects to be spoiled when she acts mad at him, so imagine what she expects him to do if she threatens to go with this laowai that is showing how interested he is.
MOST (not all) are always looking to "upgrade".... and to think, they call us "bad" and "perverts"
Wenna, you lie about having a bf when you actually don't, or you lie about not having a bf when you actually do?
Because this is about the second one. So if you are not mistaken about what exactly is the topic, then please elaborate on why you lie about not having a bf.

Because they think the guy will not be interested in them if they do. The girls want the attention from the guy and this attention will turn off (she thinks) if the guy knows she has a boyfriend. That or they're hoping something better comes along.
As for lying and saying they have a boyfriend when they don't, which girl hasn't done that? It's a defence mechanism to turn away unwanted men.
In any western country I've ever lived in or visited I can honestly say I can't think of once where a married or a woman who was in a relationship ever lied to me when asked directly about it... If they wanted to play they would say something like "married but available" etc, but never flat out lie... Here dare I say MOST of the women will flat out lie! It's not an Asian thing either, this is a Chinese thing.
