Depends where you are I guess. I knew of a few schools that cannot find a white native speaker for a full-time job. However, a school where I once worked started with 4 white native speakers, they now have 4 non-native speakers, only one who is white. And I think they prefer this becasue they can get away with treating them like shit, pay them less, and do they really care about the level of English being taught??No, so if the non-native teacher is able to accept their shit, and be liked by the students, then I guess it is good for both parties, but perhaps not so good for the students.

First off you are stating a lie right off the bat. You are saying that no school is hiring foreigners. 

Second from the way you wrote your question I can tell you were one of the students

from this so called made up fantasy school that only has non - native speakers as teachers.

Thirdly, you really ought to use the new feature more. It's called spell check and they added this feature for people like you.

If you mean China. China is big and perhaps growing "bigger", where the hell you get that thought? Check out the classifieds first and ask the question again.

After 3 years of research on English learning in China, there is a shift by many larger schools to hire more non-native speakers to teach English. Likewise, the small "ma & pa" owned schools have been doing this for a long time. It is becoming prevalent in most larger cities as more foreigners flock into these cities looking for work. It's simply a cost cutting measure. It's all about money. Indeed, the students are the one's that suffer most, while the ownership gains the most. Many of these smaller schools have told me "We can't afford to hire a native speaker", so they're only looking at non-native speakers whom they can pay half as much or less. And, when you get so many non-native speakers saturating the market, you can expect wages to become lower and the quality of the service to be poorer. Recruiters and agents exacerbate this problem by pushing or promoting foreigners from non-native speaking countries in an attempt to find work for them as a means of making more money as well. I suspect this problem will continue to grow as more foreigners from Thailand, Philippines, Russia, Africa, Vietnam, and everywhere else in the world pour into China looking for a work. About all they can find are nanny jobs or teaching English. As a recent example, a caucasian, native speaking female with a degree was passed over for a high school job because the school wanted to hire a non-native speaker so they could pay them less. This is happening daily here in the cities. In the rural areas they have trouble getting native speakers to teach in those places because of the lack of convenient transportation, among other things. We are seeing non-native speakers taking up these jobs as well.

I believe this phenomenon will continue to get worse as more foreigners whose mother tongue is not English continue to pour into China. This doesn't bode well for qualified native speakers who have experience teaching and an educational background in English, education or TEFL/TESOL certifications. All of this is being tossed out the window it seems. Less and less are willing to pay an experienced, certified or educated native speaker. I've talked to many native speaking foreigners, recruiters and agents and schools. This is where the English market in China is heading.

As Americantongue stated above, schools hire others to save money. Some hire Chinese who studied overseas among the other foreigners like Russians and Philippinos. Maybe that is satisfactory for young learners but I'm not particularly interested in arguing that point. I think in most if not all cases it is a means to maintain or increase the fat profit margins enjoyed by the owners.

There are more than a few international schools and foundation year and other similar programs and the number seems to be increasing thus I'm not concerned about future employment for native speakers. 

I might start worrying if I send eight responses to job advertisements and get less than six positive responses.

You must be some kind of fool.  To be honest I'm not the least bit surprised that you can't find a job. Your not a native speaker, you can't write English and you are probably the wrong shade.

Schools STILL hire teachers who can speak and write correct English.

keep dreaming of no laowai , but parents want to see foreign western faces in the school or the school does not get the money. if you want a famous chain english school without laowais , then set one up yourself, see what the market says about your school. live by the market , die by the market.  its all good

I am still a little puzeled. It would seem that Chinese are considdered to be non white? They used to be called yellow? My experiernce is they are generslly as white as any Caurcasions. There are some very dark skined Chinese of certain tribal back grounds, but generally speaking they are white? Franck3
