we have good foot paths here in Shenzhen and still people feel the need to walk in the middle of the road or in the bike lanes.
why not walk on the foot path?
I live in Long gang and the area I live in they have a main road a bike lane and then a big wide foot path and people walk in the bike lanes and on the road.
You know how it works dude... just...cos. Blank stare.....No why.
I think it's just because that they feel the bike lanes are wider.Lol...
Never figured it out either. I see this young lady here always walking in the little roadway set aside for trikes/ebikes,,, sometimes I think she may be subconciously suicidal? Is there such thing? She is in her 30's, looks mentally cognizant. I've said ni hao a few times from the designated footpath and she just kinda gives me a blank look. I'm worried she is gonna get smoked by some crazoid whipping around on an ebike....

I do it because I don't like the brick surface of the foot paths. Concrete feels much better.

I don't do it because I don't like the way a car driving over my ribcage feels.

Worst is marble surfaces during or after rain, so fucking slippery, I wonder what they were thinking when they chose it over concrete or pavement.
