Q: Why do police arrest prostitutes?
Saw this happening, don't get it. What's the point? Makes as much sense as trying to murder water, especially in China.
Just for show mostly. You'll notice the headline in the news usually follows the same format. Police crack prostitution/gang/drug ring, arrest X number of people.
That or the particular establishment failed to pay the appropriate bribes on time...
Its just so they can act like they are "cleaning up" a city, or to show how the leadership is all moral and traditional.
And everyone involved and everyone watching knows its all bullshit
Face...so the police look like they are doing their job (and as cooter said most likely happened only because of a forgotten envelope of money slipped into someone's pocket). And of course it must be the evil prostitutes that get busted for trying to scrape out a living and send money home...not the wonderful gangsters who profit from them.

Police arrest prositutes because first its agains the law. Beyond that its fornication and adultry which is sin. This seems harmless and even feels good at first but sin always catches up . Prositution brings deseases, unplanned or unwanted pregnancies which many times end in abortion which is murder. Also this fuels sexual addiction which along with bringing sexual trasmitted deaseases like AIDS also destroys morality and destorys families by causing divorces. I hope that helps out.

Back in Puerto Rico, my first job as a Prosecutor was to represent the State in the arraignment phase. Now, in P.R. prostitution is a crime and both the prostitute and the "John" are supposed to be arrested. However, what really happens is that the prostitute is arrested and the client is told to "get lost". Very rarely will the client be arrested, let alone prosecuted but the prostitute will bear the full brunt of the law.
Once, nearly 30 prostitutes were arrested and every single "John" supposedly got away! All of them! Not one was nabbed....
the policemen want to have sex for free?!!!!................LOL
Because whatever us illegal in law..it is the duty of Police to stop it..so simply they do their duty by arresting prostitutes..

Great. Maybe they could do their duty with most of the other laws as well. Laws that are put in place to protect society. Lets start with the road traffic rules and work from there. Police in China pick and choose their spots while they just turn a blind eye to many illegal things on a regular basis. If you think they do their job well rather than just hanging around talking, smoking etc you must be walking around with your eyes closed.
Prostitutes are an easy target to arrest and maybe shake down later. A real criminal might put up a fight.
I sometimes saw police drive up the street and close all the beauty shops, then 5 minutes later, they were open again. I think that just means it's time for somebody to get paid.
